Greetings Folks. I just wanted to share a bit of information regarding Flaminpyro and myself, and a problem we recently resolved. The short story is, I had ordered a couple of flexdrives from him about a month ago and never received them. During the time past which they were supposed to arrive, I had asked Jeff if he had any tracking information regarding the package he sent seeing that it had probably gotten lost in the mail. He told me that I didn't purchase insurance with the order, but he'd check with his post office to see if they had any information on it. Not to my surprise, they didn't - and the package to date remains missing.

Needless to say I was upset, and asked Jeff for some help or anything that he could do to resolve this. In my head I was thinking it'd make sense to just send me 2 more drivers because I am a regular customer, but that isn't exactly fair for him to lose 2 flexdrives because the post office lost a package. Afterall, I didn't order insurance or a delivery confirmation - but honestly I didn't know OR think to ask.

In the end, we decided to split the loss by my paying him for 1 drive while he sends out 2 more of them. We'd each lose $25 this way instead of one or the other losing $50. Because of this I just wanted to publicly thank him for coming to this agreement with me, he didn't have to. Jeff is a good guy & he's just proved this to me once again.

For future reference and just some advice, I wanted to suggest purchasing insurance and/or signature confirmation on anything you order from anyone that costs more than $5. I'll be doing this from now on (insurance costs somewhere around .70 I think) and doing so would avoid any problems and any losses regarding the possibility that your package might be damaged, stolen or lost. Thats fair comment.

Ive ordered countless items from members on here and they have turned up with the exception one, and that seller suffered a $200 loss, for which I feel terrible to this day.

In the end its personal choice wether to take out insurance or not.

Sounds like you two found middle ground, which is allways good.

Thanks for making this thread maybe it will help people to make the right
decision whether to get insurance or signature confirmation to insure they
receive there package or at least to get reimbursed if it is lost in the mail :thanks:

Yep, Jeff is one of the fairest guys out there and he will do anything he can to make you happy :)

I don't think anyone has looked back after buying from him and I'm pretty sure itsgonna stay that way :D

Btw Jeff, during your 'time out' lol, did you do any testing? I'm thinking M140 :shhh:

This is the very reason I stick confirmation on every single thing I ship, regardless of value. It costs 60 or 70 cents but it pays for itself the first time something goes wrong.

Also, should someone run a chargeback you are 110% out of luck without delivery confirmation. (of course you are 99% out of luck either way, but that's another story.) They won't care that confirmation or insurance was declined. Check ebay, they don't have optional shipping insurance anymore for this very reason. When you sell something you get it to the customer. If you want insurance you factor it into the selling price. The insurance is for yourself, not the customer. They are protected by paypal either way.

Paypal will also randomly lock your account and demand tracking information for random orders. They did that to me when I was running group buys on 140 diodes. I couldn't provide tracking information for diodes I hadn't shipped yet and I couldn't order a projector to ship the diodes since my account, and projector money, was frozen.

Moral of the story, shipping without confirmation at the least is incredibly foolish. Remember, it's the seller's responsibility to see the items ordered delivered to the customer. Offering extra charges for tracking and insurance does NOT put the seller in the clear.
