I received a replacement just a few days ago. It is a new version, smooth as silk!
I really appreciate Grey's help in taking care of this for me and sending me a new one.
In terms of customer care from a company, you can't do better than that.
This is one company you should not hesitate to purchase anything from.
In fact, I am going to get a DPSS from them.

As mentioned above really, heat or cold or lubrication
wd-40 is good but it might affect the lens ?
boiling water or perhaps cold and a tap as meantioe d can free a thread
