BowtieGuy & LtKernelPanic: cheers, guys:beer:. The outdoor nature fog situation is what I dream of when it comes to shooting photons. Nearly had it back on Wednesday evening, but worked later than usual and by the time I got home it was gone as well. Patience is not one of my virtues, but have no choice really on this one:shhh:.

I love the pics as always. You have a real talent for this, haven't I said that before?

Soon I hope to be able to get a nice camera setup, start capturing the stars, red rocks, and laser beams all in one shot, a tall order.

I was wondering why no 405nm in the shots? does it not blend well? can your 800mW not hold it's own against the rest? just curious, I love that 405, I know it's dimmer than the rest, but 800mW is a lot. I suppose if you put it where it belongs it's right next to the high power 445....

Shakenawake: thanks for a comment:beer:. You surely possess a good few candidates for watchable beam shots once you find the right camera that fits your expectations. The more you shoot, the better it might become eventually.

Regarding the note about not using 405nm: point well made! You pretty much answered the question when you stated it's dimmer than other wavelengths in builds I happen to own, but the fact is I should have used it last night, because it'd have become more visible in colder air conditions while exposed to my "mouth fumes" as applied on the 3rd pic in the first post. I'll definitely include the 800mW of purple power in the next beam gallery!

there are more i want to add, I just noticed you have the 800mW PL-E pro with BE. I would love one of those, and I'd love to see some pics by you of yours. BE + fog please. you could talk me into trading my RPL for it maybe, IDK, that's a hard one

All you with the Laserbtb PL650 1W make me want one too, I realize they are not that expensive, but couldn't pull the trigger on offroadfreak's GB. Love that you can lock the focal selection in place.

One of these days one of you with a 750mW+ 405nm will need disaster relief funds and when that time comes, I'll be watching the B/S/T, bwah ha ha. seriously PM me if any of you loose your mind and decide to sell

One advantage my RPL will confer when the time to capture photons comes is the ability to select different power levels, and thus brightness levels. this should help for side by side beam shots where the RPL might normaly drown out the other wavelength(s) I noticed also it has the thinnest beam and lowest divergence at the lowest power

Here are some of the locations I would like to photograph at night with lasers. could be tough to show the color of the rocks in the dark, may need some moon light. I may need to experiment with night time shots are various intervals in the moons phases to see what gives the best blend of rocks, lasers and stars

Don't mean to thread jack, just wanted to share my vision as you share yours. your input on my ideas is most valuable. The beauty I see around here inspires me to add my own, ( once have the equipment and skill) and these parts of nature are right in my backyard, these pics are pretty enough, but lasers improve everything

What can I say about the background locations you have there? Go out and start taking pics of them bloody laser beams, will ya. If I lived were you are, I'd be spending a long time out there (perhaps in a RV or a tent) and keep shooting until I fall unconscious. So yes, I can PICTURE the unique scenery there anytime, but you can reach it and EXPERIENCE it anytime.

I've managed to make some extra time tonight and decided to enter the laser rainbow realm which the unpredictable January month offered to me. I captured several situations with 8 lasers in one line this time, due to sudden rain shower and batteries dying in both red beamers I spent about an hour out there. I added 800mW of 405nm and 30mW of 515nm this time to make it a tad more interesting.

Apparently to achieve thicker beams I had to use my mouth condensation apparatus.

Hope at least some of these 5 pics, will you - forum readers - find watchable.​

See? the 405 does ok against the rest, except the first pic. pointed away from the camera is always dimmer than toward. those single mode 638s look sweet

wow! :drool: these are some amazing pictures, I really like the second & third one in the first post, looks so nice with all the different wavelengths lighting up the grass in the dark with the faint view of the fields and trees in the background

Shakenawake: Adding that 405nm was a necessity now, you've initiated the idea eventually.

Tmack: Your MS-V3 set is pretty much unique as it is now, addition of more wavelengths to the ones in this sinner's product line you have in now would be awesome!

DJNY: :beer:. Out of the two reds used last night one was 200mW 638nm single mode and another one 300mW 660nm LPC-826 from SL.

slyoung1987: Your little purple beamer (which remembers some good old time) presented nicely in your thread certainly has its charm:beer:.

Brucemir: To present a fully completed rainbow (well if I don't count more expensive wavelengths like 589nm or 473nm, not to mention a few others) was long overdue. But with yesterday's Skylaser's GB delivery I could finally use lower powers for safer and acceptable show performance.

I can't even imagine what is your next session going to look like! Multimedia par excellence:beer:.

How does the divergence compare between the opnext 638 and the LPC 826? I've got an LPC 826, and it's divergence is among the best of my lasers, I was just wondering how the 638 compares, it looks pretty good.

Shakenawake: Comparing these two diodes beams next to each other divergence seem to be roughly about the same level. Apparently cherry red Opnext is much brighter and nicer to watch, but dots appear to be nice and round when focused with both of them.

Made another outdoor trip since there were misty conditions out there towards the evening. This time I also experimented a bit with the 10cm round diffraction mirror I own, made some more shots of of either way 5 or 8 lasers in one line raw while attached onto a white plastic bar fixed to a tripod (as to be seen on previous pictures).

During nearly 3 hours session 2 batteries used in Nikon D5200 died (out of juice), several batteries in some of the lasers didn't make it later to visible beams either, hence the cold air temperatures:shhh:.

Great pics! I like the first and last diffraction grating pics the most. You have found the nice balance of getting a good exposure of the beams without having the grating mirror not be too over exposed. Tough to do but you pulled it off nicely! So far with the D5200, my only complaint is the batteries. When I purchased the camera, I bought an extra battery. I too, am going through 2 batteries in a 3 hour photo session. I guess that is because I am using the Live View exclusively to shoot lasers and the big LCD screen must suck up the power. In the near future I will be buying an Energizer battery grip. It holds two batteries, but it will also make the camera work with 4 AA batteries.
