Hello laser people & multimedia forum watchers,

I've managed to catch some time for another beam showdown this weekend, knowing the weather showed its more merciful cheek for once. With lower clouds above my head and freezing point temperatures below my feet I've decided to take 6 laser pointers out and test them in different beam formations set up in a single raw with a goal to try a few angle shots:).

All the cold rainbow magic happened outdoors under medium to far distance shooting circumstances. Following wavelengths were applied while standing by to number follow up: 2W+ 445nm - 100mW 450-55nm - 100mW 520nm - 180mW 532nm - 200mW 638nm - 300mW 660nm.

I want to believe some of these pictures captured today, on the 11th of January 2014, turned out not too bad.

Let me introduce the 10-shot january rainbow session!

...and a few more in the comments:D...

Re: January rainbow

Nice photos.....i think its the third one; whats with what looks like the reflector? or is it a long exposure that the camera moved?

EDIT: 4th photo

Re: January rainbow

Awesome photos. :D Man, I really need to find an outdoor location to set up some shots like that.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like the beams are over a pond and the reflection is from the water's surface

Re: January rainbow

Is it water? Idk its dark and hard to tell, didnt see that at first but you could be right. Lucky me I have 8 acres of fields back in MA and the reservoir is only a short ATV ride away......private as it gets!

Re: January rainbow

Thanks guys for comments:beer:.

The Greenlander: Wish I could taste the 473nm goodness you've got yourself lately:D. Would look quite nice among the other wavelengths:thinking:.

Livinloud & Photonz: To clarify the reflection-like shot, it indeed is a water surface that creates the beam bending effect. Let me add another picture which explains it somewhat better, although the lake isn't easy to be recognised in the dark:).

2007Revolution: Gratitude, sir! An empty location to find is never an easy task, but if you succeed to discover such a place, use the opportunity:beer:.

Re: January rainbow

That 532 in picture 3 looks crazy with all the surrounding wavelengths. And if you have a lower power 445 it would have a bit more violet in it. 2w really makes it lighten up.

Makes that 520 almost look like. 488 too

Re: January rainbow

Tmack: Agreed:D. Multiple wavelengths crossing each other create an interesting colour transition, so they do. A similar shot with the opposite lake forest in the dark background (to be seen in other pics) and concrete ground underneath:

Re: January rainbow

OH you shot the beam at the water and it reflects off. Dang thats cool, now I need to bring my lasers up to the cottage and use the lake there. Plus its always a ghost town up there, in the middle of no where so I can do as I please, volunteer police too :D

Re: January rainbow

jimdt7: a thankful comment deserves at least another pic to be added. I don't have much more left to show, though:D.

Livinloud: Nature offers so much, doesn't it:D. Would be nice to see what the environment gives you in a return when exposed to laser radiation:thinking:. For now I'm happy for hopefully decent photo results and thankful comments from users:beer:.

Re: January rainbow

Hey Gismo,
Great stuff as usual. What is especially nice is the horizon in the background. It really adds depth to the amazing clarity of the beams. I have always wanted to shoot lasers over a body of water, but where I live it is not a good idea so I don't.

I did get my D5200 today!

Re: January rainbow

:thanks:, Bruce! That's perfect to read your Nikon's landed to you now:wave:. Your photographic awesomeness is set to be unleashed to even greater potential! I'm sure you'll get us the first results very, very soon:).

Seriously now though, this is the last pic to be added today:D.

More great photos gismo, love your outdoor themed shoots!
Those in post #7 and #9 are a couple of the best!

Edit - Damn gizmo, I no sooner posted this and you give us that superb pic in post # 12!

Re: January rainbow

Hey Gismo, Keep posting more shot from this batch! Every good one is worth seeing.
I took a bunch of dual projector shots this afternoon to learn the camera, real smooth. I was able to make enough room in my garage and tonight I will be taking the camera for a real test drive, projectors, hand helds, and fog, can't wait. I will be posting tomorrow.
