thats dirt on the can window, you can fix if you are careful just clean the can window with a sliced down qtip (made thiner)

Why sliced down (and how, I can't get a mental image of it)? Me and lots of other people here use just regular q-tips.

It's usually hopeless. You can try to cut the can from the base carefully (with a dull knife), but every time I tried the diode died from glass shards. You should really watch out with moving/shaking your laser as every movement can be it's last.

[edit] I watched it again and your glass is not broken, it's dirty and loose. This could get interesting. Opening up the can might indeed be the right solution as it will not kill your diode with shards (if done right) and cleaning it while it's loose is next to impossible.

Like others have said, the window is loose, your best bet is to open can it. If you don't want to risk it I think GooeyGus does it for a small fee.

Dirt doesn't move when you turn the laser. The window is dirty, but worse, it is obviously loose as well. You will have to get it secured again and then attempt to clean it.

I do not envy you. This diode is in a very precarious situation.

If this was mine, I would try a tiny drop of low viscosity UV curing adhesive, applied very carefully, then turn On the laser for a minute or 2 until it sets up, then clean the lens carefully. But I am probably too late with this suggestion in any case. Good luck.

This happened to one of mine. I shook it until the window receded to above the die, then it worked... for a while and fell back in to place again with the slightest movement

It may be worth looking carefully at the window with a jewelers loupe (magnifier) WITH THE LASER OFF AND THE BATTERIES REMOVED! to see if there is any point at which the window moves right to the edge, out of the beam........

My second PS3 build had a broken window, it was in the module and attached to the driver by the time I noticed.
I carefully broke out enough of the window, to clear the beam, with a small jewelers screwdriver. I then used a dab of cyno-acrylate, on a cocktail stick, to stick the remaining piece out of the way.......

Neither process is for the faint hearted, you need to ensure that the screwdriver doesn't touch anything vital inside the LD can, that shards of glass do not fall inside the can and that the LD is well ventilated to ensure that the vapour from the glue does not ruin the LD.

My one is still working fine 9 months on

I wouldn't doubt it ;D it will be all better once I do some surgery on it actually better than new
