Just wondering, if I were to stick an IR filter onto my laser aperture, could it just be stuck flat on top? Wouldn't it reflect some of the IR and green right back down and hurt the pump diode? I'm not using a reflector IR filter, more like the absorption (blue tint) filter. Should it be on an angle or not? :)

Yes, I KNOW... but I'm asking if it is safe for the filter to be mounted FLAT onto the aperture and if the slight reflecting light will hurt the laser diode.

If your IR filter is AR coated for 532 (which many of them are) then the back reflections will not be a problem. Quite a few AR filters are not coated, and they will add reflection noise to the output beam. I've yet to hear of one killing a pump diode, AR-coated or not.

and question 2, I mount mine flat/perpendicular to the beam. I do not have any problems. That is a pretty good question from somebody new to lasers though.
