IQS (itemquick ship) Laser Round-up

Ive found out that IQS is actually 3 different accounts on eBay with the same stuff being sold roughly at the same prices. Kinda strange if you ask me. I have noticed that he can and does use the different accounts to jack up and or lower prices to match the other account. Kinda smart i guess.

Anyone buy a 300 from him yet ?? What were the specs for the 200 ??

I decided to get the 300 after all. Now, i hope its overspec like all the others =)

He changed it to LaserQuickShip??

I bet it has something to do with PayPal and the "$20,000 in gross payment volume AND over 200 payments" report to the IRS.

Figures, i bought the 300mw for $169.99 yesterday and today he took off $10 on this and the 200mw.

Wow, here comes the IRS to mess with people. eBay will lose millions of revenue with this new law. People that sold tons of stuff...like sellers with 200,000 deals dont want to deal with the IRS. Hence why they were selling stuff on eBay.

What's next...IRS trying the same BS with Google payments ?? IRS going after sellers on Etsy or Craigslist ??

FYI, my 300mW metered at (Peak) 420mW and settled down to a nice 400mW. Here's a couple pix:

Im very happy with this 300 =)

Is this possible?!? My replacement IQS #200 came, after the first one died a few minutes into use. Upon receiving the replacement, I was NOT impressed.

1) It would be bright for a few seconds, and then very dim.
2) It is incredibly crooked, comically so in fact.

So I unscrewed the top. The crystal mount was indeed crooked, but I certainly wasn't going to take it off and put it back on. Well, I noticed a third issue:

3) It was mode hopping like crazy. Didn't notice when focussed, but it was clear as day without the lens on. I have never observed mode hopping before, and it was cool to see... sort of like something was alive and moving around inside my laser!

But here's where the magic began...

I started applying a bit of pressure by hand to the crystal mount, and noticed that by pushing the edges, I could get it to stay in TEM00. Very cool. It would eventually come out again, and I'd push the sides to get it back in. Eventually it just started staying there. So I LPMd it. Without the lens, it hit 537mW! I put the lens back on, and it cut me down to 308mW. Still impressive for a supposedly 200mW laser!

Am I right to presume that the lens assembly has an IR filter, and what I've observed is a laser with 308mW of 532nm and 229mW (537-308) of IR that normally gets filtered out anyway?

If so, I'm pretty excited - and I'll deal with the crookedness :)

How did you disassemble yours? I think I may hae to do the same to mine -- it is exiting at ~10-15deg angle, and while not mode-hopping, it is not reaching its full power.

I want to test without the focusing assembly, but don't want to break it ...

Literally just unscrewed the top.

I should mention that since mine was a replacement, I decided that one way or another, I wasn't going to ask for ANOTHER replacement. Hence, I was fine with taking it apart.

However, if you take yours apart, it's probably not right/fair to ask for a replacement afterwards. I was ok with this - since I had already decided that I was "all or nothing" second time around - IE, prepared to write it off.

It would indeed appear that the lens assembly has an IR filter in it. Do you have a spare pair of goggles that will filter out 532 but pass 1064? Try running it through the goggles with and without the lens assembly to see how much IR is hitting the LPM. Be sure to wear adequate eye protection while testing!

Cheap red (in colour) laser glasses aren't likely to block IR right? I'll give that a shot.

Argh, nvm... I left my LPM on overnight and the battery is dead.

Biggest complaint about the RadiantAlpha - 9V batteries.... who the heck uses those anymore? :)
