I've melted ice before, it doesn't cut as nicely as yours but it does make a hole. I don't think it affects glass at all, though.

Edit: you know you'd make a fortune selling those around here, right?

You need long waves for the ice I believe. Never saw a pointer doing that.

I think it works better on "white" ice than "transparent" ice. The hole has less of a defined shape as well.

Coolest thing about it is the 5min duty cycle. Really good to burn stuff up close.

NOTHING compared to the WLRS in Wettzell / Germany which is able to hit the Fizeau mirrors on the moon to continuously measure earth-moon distance.
