I'M DONE FOR NOW

Yeah well all diodes aren't perfect ;) It's a risk you have to take instead of paying the big load for one that works, which is the only thing bad about this hobby, then again if it was easy anyone could do it.

Heath;

I consider myself fairly experienced in handling delicate electronics.

Yet when I started using the PHR 803 diodes driven by my adjustable power supply, I lost several.

Finally determined that turn-on and turn-off voltages were responsible.

Static discharges can also cause problems.

I use a zener diode to limit forward voltage &

a schottky diode to bypass reverse voltage.

Since then, I have not lost a single PHR 803, although I only operate them @ 125 ma.

Anybody playing with "new LD technology" will lose a few along the way.
