I need help from any1 from the UK

i dont want to buy a laser from dx because :

1. There is no IR filter
2. Shipping takes too long

1. Yes there is an IR filter
2. Normally 2 weeks to the UK

ill just need to see what my dad thinks lol ;D ::)

Yeah, there are filters.

Shippings not that terrible,
for the price you really can't argue.

And tell him that 30mW's probably the limit before you require laser goggles.

hes not worried about the laser goggles so much as he is the fact that its just illegal to have over a class II laser in scotland... i dont even think he'd let me get an x25 >:(

To be honest,
who cares.

I never take my +5mW's out into the public anyway.

Buy one for your own enjoyment but do it privately.

Besides, I live in Sydney as well (recent laser plane attacks and people getting sentenced to jail for it),
and no trouble has ever come my way.

Yeah unless you're into astronomy there's not that much you can do with a laser outside that you can't inside. I'm glad for the fact that my mum is a hippie and so I can use her incense and crystals n shiz ;D

my mums a little like that too, and ill probably use it if i go up north to some rural village for star gazing lol since ther aint much else to do

Have you missed this whole concept? -- -- -- -- some rocks, some plants, and some bugs glow when lit by a 405nm laser.

Build yourself a Blu-Ray. Get a diffraction grating. Go outside.

Especially in the UK, outside would be more fun. I will grant that I have not spent a great deal of time there since the early 70's. (My Uncle Sam and your Queen Elizabeth both thought it would be a good idea for me to stay in Bentwaters for several years then) ;) However, IIRC there is a significant amount of moisture in the air there a great percentage of the time. Here, in Southern California, there is so little moisture in the air at this time of the year that I can only see the beam from my greens outside. Yellow/orange is just OK. Blu-Rays and Reds are not visible. ((I need a blue laser.)) You should be able to visualize most of the laser colors outside.

As with all lasing, practice safe lasing. Don't bounce it off a bobby's badge and don't scare the old folk. :D

Peace,
dave

yeah except i dont have £100+ to spend a blu-ray to just rip apart lol, im confused tho, my dad was gonna let me build a dvd laser but he wont let me buy a 50mW greenie :-?

and dont scare the old folk ;D awww and i wanted to scare my mum >:(

It doesn't have to be a 6X. Aren't there any less expensive units in the UK? Get a diode from someone here. Even my little <5mW can light up stuff and it's got a REALLY crappy diode in it.

Cold, wet, and expensive . . . I don't know if I'd stay ;)

lol, if i could id move to japan or canada ;D and i could probably get a HD DVD player for under £60 thats got a blu-ray in it as far as i can remember

ooooh who likes my sig ?? just made the banner ther (its my site lol)

id be really greatful if people signed up :D just click the banner it should take you to the site

OK. So here's the plan then:

1) finish degree in electronics, minoring in either Japanese or french
2) practice eating REALLY BAD food for a year
3) move to either (edit)Japan(edit) or Canada
4) start laser building, research, and resale business
5) get rich enough to have Bill Gates as your houseboy
6) take over the world

Nice plan. I like it. You will probably have to fill in some of the details along the way.

Now . . . doesn't it feel better knowing that you have a plan?

Oh, and trust me, there are plenty of ways to scare your mother that don't include lasers
