"I NEED HELP" !!!BEGINNER!!! First laser Build Iam using a 405nm PHR-803T

Re: "I NEED HELP" !!!BEGINNER!!! First laser Build Iam using a 405nm GGW-H20L 6x Blu

Hi,

Since you seem to be starting out with a 12X, there are a lot of things that can go wrong... Such as pressing the diode into the aixiz module incorrectly, knowing the correct pinout of the diode.

I would suggest as others have, to do A LOT of reading before blowing a lot of money on a diode. It might be worth buying an aixiz module, a PHR and a driver from modwerx for a total of about $30, and put that together. You will be surprised how many times you will miss small little things that will blow your diode.

See how you get on with a PHR build, then move onto a 12X, jumping straight into the deep end will end in tears :)

Thanks for the advice...!!! yea thats what i plan on doing is to buy a cheap set up just like you said.. (can you give me the link for that $30 dollar kit your talking)

Also ive been reading alot and when i say alot i mean thats all i do for 3 or 4 hours a day is read......! !! !!

THANKS,

Angelos G.............

Great. Keep like that then ;) You can buy the cheap parts here:

iam going to get the PHR-803T blu-ray laser diode in focusing module
$18.99 from Modwrex but what driver should i use ??? should i just get one of the preset ones because i dont know how to change the range on the mico flexdrive...the reson why i ask is because that is what iam going to be using on my other more expencive build or it dosent rely mater this is just for practice and an will do....i also will be getting a dummy load to set the current,at 120ma witch i read that this is the persect mA to run it at...let me know what you guys think......

aslo ive looked at a couple of sites for the driver to see if i can get the driver preset to 120mA but dark lasers is the only one i could find but they are currntly sold out .if you know any other place plese let me know , just so i can save some money so i dont have to go out and buy a meter....but i might be better off to for future builds.....let me know what you think about all this .....???

thanks,

Angelos G............

Re: "I NEED HELP" !!!BEGINNER!!! First laser Build Iam using a 405nm GGW-H20L 6x Blu

If you are gonna use the same driver for the 12x, then go for the flexdrive. Setting the current on it is a matter of turning a screw ;) You must use a test load to measure the output current in order to regulate it. Also, if you want to build a 12x you will need to harvest the diode from it's sled to then press it into the module, if you want to practice buy the phr sled and the module and make the full process ;)

Here's your homework: search about diode harvesting and test loads:D

Here is what i ordered today,

803t sled
flexdrive v5
aixiz module
1 trustFire 14500 3.6V 900mAh Lithium battery

sounds good???

Re: "I NEED HELP" !!!BEGINNER!!! First laser Build Iam using a 405nm GGW-H20L 6x Blu

is the trustFire 14500 3.6V 900mAh Lithium battery or any 14500 3.6v lithium battery the same as the Energizer Ultimate Lithium Batteries,AA or are they the same as the Energizer Advanced Lithium Batteries,AA???

Re: "I NEED HELP" !!!BEGINNER!!! First laser Build Iam using a 405nm GGW-H20L 6x Blu

I'm not sure, but as far as I know, the Energiser Lithium AA batteries are a 1.5V drop-in replacement for AA batteries whereas 14500 batteries run at 3.6V. Like I said, I don't know for certain - I have none to test myself, and you should measure them with a voltmeter.

EDIT: This page says they are 1.5V: http://shop.eurobatteries.com/size-energizer-ultimate-lithium-battery-pack-free-p-2600.html

Re: "I NEED HELP" !!!BEGINNER!!! First laser Build Iam using a 405nm GGW-H20L 6x Blu

Nope. Ones are 1.5V and the one you got are 3.6V. This battery you got is perfect in combination with the flexdrive to make a very small pointer. However, it will last minutes, if you want a reasonable battery life time, go for CR2 or better, 18650 batteries ;)

Re: "I NEED HELP" !!!BEGINNER!!! First laser Build Iam using a 405nm GGW-H20L 6x Blu

The 14500's have a higher 'stated' capacity than the CR2's. (900mAh's)

Let's say that they really only have about 500mAh's...

In a 6X build set at 190mA's (single battery/FlexDrive) The current draw at full charge will be in the high 200's probably. (because of boosting voltage)

As the battery drains, the current draw will go up, but probably not to the 500mA level. (guessing)

So, that means you can expect well over an hour of use between charges.

And we know that an 18650 (as mentioned), has over twice the capacity...

can i use a 18650 batteries in the c3 host

for some reson i thought they were the same but now when you said that they were 1.5 and the 14500 are 3.6 that made it very clear there not the same

thanks AG.............

You will be using a 14500 in the C3 host...
