I will have about $25 store credit at Deal Extreme. I was going to buy the 200mW red, bhut then i ofund out that i would need to also get goggles which would go over my budget(about 40 bucks).
Now i need advice, should I get another green laser or what?

NOTE: this will be my first (working) laser.

Raz is right. Goggles are pointless for the 30mW, unless your stupid enough to literally shine it into your eye.

yup, i agree. Its a laser with the advertised power and its in your price range. How much more could you ask for :D

Alright, i'll be looking at that one. Any other suggestions?
Unless you want to toss in $10-30 more you can't beat the true 30.

you could get the 20mW ultrafire. Its only like 15 bucks more and its been said to output around 70mW green+IR

That's back ordered forever though. Don't buy it unless you plan on waiting a month or more for it to ship.

It says 3 days till its back in stock. Is that reliable, or should I just get the other one.

Just get the true 30. The "3 days" message means they will be receiving another shipment in 3 days. Usually a shipment is only a few dozen lasers at max and they are quickly sent out to everyone waiting for them.

alright, and two more questions about the true 30.
Is the switch a momentary(you have to hold it down) or on/off?
Can you use rechargeable batteries with it?

Thanks for your patience guys!

1-The switch is a momentary pushbutton.
2-Rechargeable batteries like sanya eneloops work perfectly with it.

yes, it is a momentary switch. And about he ultrafire 20mW. I just had mine shipped today randomly.

I think goggles are pointless at any power level below 500mW (unless it's IR over 30mW).
Just get the 200mW if you're not stupid enough to point it in your eye.
I play with +100mW of green without goggles and my eyes are fine. Red isn't nearly as bright.
Or, even better, get the 200mW red and a True 30.
:)
