I was taking pictures of my laser while using my fog machine.
My Nova Laser x150 briefly hit my camera lens and BAMM my CMOS was burnt.
Please be safe with your camera, or all your photos will come out looking like there is a open wound on them...
I feel so stupid!

Yeah I already had a close call with my eyes... BTW, how did you know what camera I used? Was there metadata in the file?
The good news is that it will be cheap to replace, it's from 2003 and there are plenty on eBay in good condition... I have too many accessories for this camera to start over...

Haha, it sucks when you have a lot of unique accessories for an item and it breaks, I know the feeling.

Anyways, yes, there was exif data in your photo.

How do you read that data? what program do you use?

Well, there are several programs, but in this case, I used the Exif Viewer add-on for Mozilla Firefox.

It's nice since you can simply right click on a picture featured on a page and read its data, without manually saving it.

Sweet ad on!!! I am a firefox user thanks for the tip!

That's why you don't wave lasers around expensive cameras. My dad would kill me if I did that to his EOS 40D and I'd be rather pissed about my old D60 (his old one, still a goodie).

looks familiar lol killed my fujifilm s7000 the same way
even with my scanners moving it happend

it is better your camera than your eyes as you can get a new camera or get it repaired but your eyes you are not able to get replaced.

Thanks for posting this, people will look at it and it may prevent someone else from doing the same thing. have a grat day ! Pyro...
