Ok. So I bought 5 pounds of dry ice but when I got home I found out that 5-10 lbs of dry ice will sublimate every 24 hours and I dont need it until 4 days later. well, whoop de doo. I cant return it. What do you think I should do?

Got any magnesium? Mg will burn in dry ice.

Get a 5gallon bucket of hot water and drop a pound or two in? Fill the house with low laying fog.

Chew on a gram or so and pretend to be a dragon?

Toss a couple grams in a balloon and seal it; self inflating balloons!

Carbonate some juices/milk(LOL)/wine/etc...

There's lots of options!

Can you actually carbonate beverages by just putting dry ice in? might do that.

/milk(LOL)/

DO NOT CARBONATE MILK
You'll get calcium carbonate. Basically do it if you love drinking chalk. Nice bubbly fizzy chalk.

EDIT: Forgot. Plus it goes everywhere.
Also I think it may curdle the milk. Carbonic acid and milk?

Haha, yes.

To carbonate a liquid you do need a sealable container for it that will hold the pressure, you can't just drop it in a glass and expect it to work.

Add it to some alcohol like isopropyl , and freeze stuff xD in the -79C liquid .

put it in a cooler and wait until you need it :P

put in a bucket of water and leave in someone's car (maybe someone you don't like, in case they accidentally asphyxiate themselves. Actually, maybe don't do this one)

I would be careful what type of contrainer you put dry ice in...It tends to expand rapidly when exposed to a warm liquid. Under the right conditions you could end up with a coke bottle bomb. BANG haha

Edit: I don't know what the threshold is between too much dry ice and enough to carbonate.

I had 10 pounds of it for my brother to do a school project and we kept it for 4 days by sticking it in a coleman cooler and keeping out on my deck since it was -25 C out. The cooler you keep it the slower it will sublimate.

Put some dry ice and a little bit of warm water in a soda bottle, screw on cap and wait

Move away from the bottle also ;)
