Hurricane Irma

I've been hearing from friends and family in Florida, and the storm surge flooding and damage in the Keys is ridiculous. No word yet on how a cousin's house fared yet. Flooding definitely seems to be an issue further north, but I haven't heard much other than that it's happening.

The photos of dry beaches due to the storm surge pulling it away are crazy! Anybody see the story about stranded manatees.

Edit:1k posts

Honestly, quality is better than quantity, so don't worry about it.

You can see how active the vet section is in recent posts, and it doesn't look like anybody misses much anyway.

Also, looks like there's flooding near my family in North Florida. Hopefully it doesn't get too bad.

Yeah, the vets section isn't very exciting most of the time. :p

Hope your family is safe!

Well 840K without power in Ga. so far and I'm on my backup, nice gusts of wind and rain but nothing serious, I did hear the massive arc in the distance when the power went out, hey...this would be a good time to listen to my shortwave without all the interference. ;)

I do hope everyone South of here is ok.

---EDIT---

Some Spanish and CW Morse code, we have a half moon tonight, too bad it's not a new moon as the beams would look even better, actually I would be happy with the mains back, but I expect it will be a while, still stormy here.

If the band conditions here are anything to go by you won't hear much, maybe late at night on the lower bands you'll get something. :(

The Keys look devastated, and they're just starting to let people into the upper ones. Miami seems to be mostly fine. Not sure about Tampa yet, but coastal damage is there. Jacksonville got bad flooding which I guess hasn't completely cleared up.

My family is all fine. Flooding was pretty minor where they were. I guess there were a lot of downed trees and a bit of wind damage to the houses though.

Edit: Forgot to say power is still out for a lot of them, and a lot of lines need serious repair. Water is also still cut for the Keys.

I'm glad your family is ok. That's the important thing. I hope this all gets cleared up soon.
