So a few weeks ago I posted a thread <Scholarship> asking for some ideas about the future of laser technology for a 40K scholarship to the University of Dayton. The scholarship is called "Your Question Your Mark." UD is a private school that has an excellent engineering program that has many ties to WPAFB, and allot of respect. The downside is UD costs a pretty penny, and my parents don't want to fork over to much dough. So the rest of tuition lies on me. Financial aid from FASA is out out of the question too.

I've already been accepted into the UD electrical engineering program, and I hope to major in electro-optics in the future.

So what am I asking from the viewer of this thread? Just go to the link and click on the like button under my video, and if you are feeling saint like distribute the video to other laser enthusiasts and friends. You can look through some of the other videos, just don't like any of them. :tsk: Please! It is competition based on the amount of votes you receive. The top 10 videos with the most votes are to be judged, 3 videos are selected. 1st prize is $40,000 and 2nd and 3rd are only $2500. Yeah I know big drop off.

Sorry about the choice in music, originally I made a pretty sweet intro using Animoto to Livin on a Prayer. I posted the Intro on YouTube then ripped it off, just cause Animoto doesn't let you own the video. Needless to say I violated several copyright laws, so I decided to play it safe then sorry and use some copyright free music.

Hope you all will enjoy the video as much as I will enjoy your all's vote.

Hope this works out, and good idea about the copy right stuff, I'm sure you'll look better to the judges without violating copyright laws.

Hey thanks mate, that means allot to me. Right now I'm at 79 votes, which isn't too bad, but I know we can do better.
 
Met with the dean today, had allot of good things to say about the electro-optics program.
 
The voting ends march 31, then a group of judges view the top ten videos with the most votes and select the best one, winner gets 40K. I have to make my decision to commit to UD before that date though, but most likely I'll end up going there.

Nice to meet you, Tux. I was born in Dayton and have alot of relatives that work at WPAFB and live in the Fairborn/Xenia area. I would gladly vote for you, but when I click on the link it says "Error occurred...try again later", so I will. Just wanted to bring that to your attention.

Yeah I don't know what the problem is, UD's servers must be acting strange because I've had several other complaints about that happening too. Also I am not able to see how many votes I have accumulated, I can see how many votes others have but not for me. Is anyone else able to see how many votes I have?
I think this whole voting thing is kinda sketchy to be honest, I just hope I qualify in the top ten and the judges are technology savvy and choose my video.

But seriously thanks. And can anyone see how many votes I have, I'm just a little curious on why everyone else's number of votes show but not mine.
