How to remove scratches from laser goggles?

Hi all, I was just wondering if it was possible to remove some scratches from laser goggles.

It's the cheap Uvex ones, but since shipping to here is twice the price of the goggles themselves, I was wondering if there was a way to restore them.

Here's what's happening: there's a roughly scratched spot (about 1 sq. cm) that's directly in front of my eye, and it's getting very annoying.

Would sandpaper work?

Thanks in advance! :thanks:

sandpaper could either work or make it worse.

use similar methods to polishing something. start with coarse grit (200) to remove deep scratches going up in grit in steps until it clears while wet sanding. then finish with rubbing compound or polishing cream.

To make things easier, I often use this to polish my acrylic projects: Headlight Lens Restorer - Turtle Wax

it already has foam pads with different grits numbered which to use first, and a polishing compound at the end. No need to use the UV protectant if you don't want to and save it for later use.

you can use some plastic polish. its generally best to avoid scratches in the first place

Depending on the severity of the scratches, toothpaste is a mild abrasive and might work in some cases. Rub it on the lens in a circular motion with your finger then rinse off with water.
