How to remove heatsink?

Hey Moisenator! I have the exact same module and bought off the exact same seller! I'm wondering, have you managed to get the heatsink off?

i'd guess it's thermal epoxied on. ALOT of force will be needed :( just make sure you dont put too much pressure on the module itself. you could try hacksawing it off?

I had a module similar to that. The heatsink is only pressed in but pretty tight. You'd need to desolder the driver board or risk breaking the diode pins while pressing the heatsink out.

you also can try to cut the heatsink in 2 point with a grinder with cutting disc at slow rotation speed

I wouldn't recommend it due to the metal filings ending up in the optics and the vibration knocking the crystals out of alignment. But you can try at your own risk.

Can you get the threaded ring off or is that what you're having the trouble with? Everything
comes loose with a big enough screwdriver/wrench. :gun:

The one that I received doesn't seem to have threaded rings. It's just the one long module with a heatsink stuck onto it.

Got some gallium or mercury? Stick it on the aluminium till it turns to mush :D

djQUAN is right. extreme care must be taken when taking off this heatsink.
