How to make a liquid sky effect

One thing to add is use distilled water if at all possible. A gallon jug should be like 79 cents, will last forever and will avoid leaving minerals behind that can clog your nozzle just as bad if not worse than fog juice can.

+3 for catching my omission- YES for sure flush with distilled H2O.

Surplushed sells Poly FSM scanners IIRC these are found in older types of combo printer/scanners- I *think* at SS there is a link to show the way to power these and make them spin- BUT the method I posted here is way cheaper and making the fan W/ mirror spin is super easy .
I got two from SS and the bigger & More expensive one I was never able to power it.
Tunnel efx is just Liq Sky in a circle- and that one is even easier-- do not worry too much about glueing the mirror TOO flatly that is actually kinda hard to do.
but you want to make a circle that spreads out best for your use.

Hey thanks for all the primo info, both hak and the kernel.

Actually, I have plenty of distilled water in the cellar, thanks to a reservoir tank hooked to my dehumidifier. We use only distilled water for antifreeze/coolant mix in autos and equipment (tractors, trucks, and such), and other technical uses... I'll be sure to flush any fog machine I may one-day own with only distilled.

Hi all!
I tried the liquid sky effect with the computer fan and a mirror glued paralel to the axle.
But i can't make it work, the problem is that doesn't create just a scanned beam in front of it on just a little angle as its supposed to do, but a beam at 180° around the mirror and also a part of the laser beam pass "trough" the rotating mirror and so there's a dot behind it.
For the record i use a 445nm 2.5w, a bit powerfull for this use, i have goggles ;-)

What do you think of that?

Edit: i supposed that would be a rotating speed problem, so i tried at different speeds, problem is the same.

I will take some today.
I shine the laser in front of the mirro system just a bit in upward direction, to let the reflected beam shine upward to the first beam.
I didn't masked the angles of the mirror do you think that's the problem?
 
I am looking to do a red liquid sky for my halloween arrangement. What wavelength and power would be best for a length of 40 feet?

Where is the cheapest place to find them?
 
Tyvm now I am a laser noob how do I make the diode into a flat laser. I do not want it battery powered?
 
You buy a lens for a few dollars. It will fit onto an aixiz module, but not every laser. Some pix might help.
 
assume i know nothing about the components or how to build one. I know about the lens. I need to know how to build a laser correctly for my application.
 
To make the effect more intense, make sure there are no breezes in the room so the smoke does not diffuse as quickly and thin out. It works best in a car or in a room with the door and windows closed.
