Good foggers are not cheap - cheap hazers are also not really never very cheap-even used---They are not like foggers- much better -a few can fog a huge area and the 'hang-time' is longer.

Some of the best deals can be found all the time on Feebay.

Brand new cheapie foggers- one chance per year-' how to do it' by Hak

Once a year you have one chance of buying a cheap fogger for even less.
Takes some work and a bit if driving(or phone calls) around but it is possible to purchase a new fogger for between 50 %and 75% off- a 30$ fogger for 12.50 to 15$--
<seen them many times!!

if you always remove the juice and run it with a little distilled water until its empty it will last a long time- most do not come with fog juice and those that do count on it being the cheapest kind- once it s gone go to ebay and look for good deals on 'Froggies'... never buy cheap juice.

Step one --look into Chain drug stores that have Holloween stuff and see how many foggers they have towards the end of the last day that Holloween items are sold-
Find a friendly clerk and ask about the discount the next day- get their name if they are working early the next day and a phone number help to save you from a wasted trip -
You might try asking if they will help you buy one- put it back-hide it-- buy it for you--worth a try-

Step Two.. be at the store when it opens- and hope at least one is left-

if you have checked out other drug stores then find the one with foggers left- Team up with others and first one to find enough for all scores for all.

cell phones will be needed to go that route. It may be a good idea to be a little greedy and buy more than one-have a back-up fogger -- sell it at the forum to someone close enough to do a local pick=up or get it from you at a LEM.

it will be POS fogger- but still OK for home and garage use - just never let it run dry for more than a few seconds and run with distilled water to flush --then store- if you leave that cheap juice or for that matter even Froggies your fogger will not last long SO..

also keep the box - as you may be able to return it next Holloween I did at Spencers(after 3 yrs of occasional use) no questions asked- I have never left the second one stored 'wet' and it has lasted 7 years.

Oct ends this year on a Thursday so ATM I don't know when holloween even is-
ask when the big after Holloween sale begins at your local drug store-

there's also some great stuff marked way down at places like Lowe's- I got 6 outdoor wireless Xmas light controllers- regular price 20$ got them for 6$ each great for running strobes- LED lights anything that gets plugged that you want to run from a distance and wireless.

so the day after some holidays is a great day to shop.

Prolly at Walgreens looking for nearly free fogger!!

Those sold at drugstores are as i wrote not very good- but way better than a pot of glycerine on a hot plate-

Only good for small areas- and prone to failure if not taken the needed care to clean after using.


I will be looking for some this year- a back-up for my Spencers fogger and maybe a few for friends who could not find any- your best shot will be to see where the largest number are still on the shelf near closing time- and be certain there is going to be an 'after' sale.

BTW if you have a choice and can buy one with ANY style of remote and its not that much more $$ go for that one. Mine has a wired remote and its less hassle with that feature.

Man, that was a deal! My 700W one has a wired remote also len. Had no idea until I stopped at a big party store that they sold add on timers and remotes for these things.
Hate to admit this but I don't remember having the instructions to mine and didn't know you are supposed to periodically clean them. Had mine for years and it alwasy works great even though sometimes it isn't used for 1/2 a year or more and is 1/2 full of fog juice.

Has anyone ever tried adding a tiny bit of food coloring to see if you can get colored fog? There must be a way to do it that's really simple.

I added bubble and dayglo concentrate together
with hopes of awesome glowing bubbles in my black light room and was underwhelmed-- I will keep trying--maybe 405 would make them look cooler.

@No7 7$ that has to be some kind of epic deal there-and WIRELESS TO- dang how cool is that?

I am not sure all foggers come with complete directions about maintenance- But the few years my first one lasted i dont think i ever flushed it with distilled water.

Maybe everyone who scores this year will put in this thread where and how much they paid-- more tips and any additional advice is always welcome. I will say again that if the air around the fogger is not moving this makes tunnel and LSky WAY better. I don't know if 'whispy' is the right word but try both ways and you WILL see a difference, I run my AC on 65 degres so when i fog and do some lasering my house stays cooler longer(as the AC willl be off), I even remove the fan blades from my line and circle generators.

I bought 2 the first one was 50% off (about $15) the day after Halloween. A week latter they still had a couple and they where 75% off. I got one and called up a DJ friend of mine who got the last one.

They're little ones but it works allot better than the much more expensive big one I had. I gave my bigger one to a friend that needed it for his bands practice room

Yesterday I got this one Shop Gemmy 400-Watt Residential Grade Fog Machine at Lowes.com for $17.49 or 50% off.

A question to Hakzaw1: Does it matter what type of Froggy's fog fluid I get, and is there a preferred type?

Holy smokies (pun intended). $7 each? They must have been pretty small units although mine is really overkill for inside the house at 700W. I think I've had it for over 10 years and before I got into the laser stuff I honestly don't believe I had used it in a few years. It was just sitting with about 1/3rd full and when I fired it up it acted completely normal.
I may have to run out Monday morning to check out a few places. Can't imagine getting one for under $10. Somehow I'm betting like most things that the uality has gone down from the unit I have now.
Will say my wife brought home some 1/2 off candy so it's all good

well I hope you guys had better luck than I did- i spent an hour calling around and found none left except at one drugstore about 30 miles away so the gas used would not make the cost worthwhile IMO.

I was also surprized to learn that one store (who was out) had a small foggers for 10$ BEFORE the sale!! dang thats cheap!! no wonder they were sold out!!!


I almost made the long trip anyway as the clerk said they had a fogger that also make bubbles-- not sure if he was correct about that but the price was 59$ so it may have been both fogger and bubble machine- - I once added Yellow DayGlo concentrate to a bottle of Bubble fluid hoping my black light would make the bubbles jump out- but this turned out to be underwhelming-

I have a stand alone bubble machine. Changed the input voltage from 9 to 12V and it now works much better. Fan speed was too slow before adding some DC "juice".
Can't believe places would be out of them already around here as there's so many stores in close range that had them.

The 2 CVS stores by my house did not carry any fog machines this year. In fact there Halloween stuff was pretty sparse this year. They didn't even have spider webs.

@Mattronium - you can make your own fog juice if you go to your local drug store and get pure glycerin (CVS has it for about $5) and mix it 1 to 10 with distiled water. DO NOT USE TAP WATER. The commercial fog juice is basically the same thing.

To make you fog machines last longer you should run a tank of just distiled water every once in a while. And don't store them with fog juice in them.

I've got 4 foggers, 3 700W foggers I've had for god knows how long, and a 900W one I just recently picked up. Moving house is a pain with all this stuff I hoard

Well if you need to remove some of the burden of moving the stuff if you move again , I can lighten the load for you.A fogger would be really cool :drool: and not even overseas .

OK Things, I'll bite. How big is your house or are you trying to fill the whole country?

Anyone know if that fog juice that stays low to the floor can be used in a regular fogger?
I saw it at a party store but there was a fogger there that seemed to be specifically for that juice.

I used to use them fairly often for gigs at the local school, though I've kinda backed off from that now, so they don't see much use except when I feel like firing up the laser projector
