Good find and yes true about to be carefull opening those batterie packs cause those cells ofcource do have a lot of energie.

just popped open one of my mates old laptop batteries, the cells in it look exactly like my sanyo 2600mAh's!

Also had a dvd burner and the red diode is running nicely.

another good test to do is charge them full and let them sit for a week or so. If any of them lose voltage much faster than the others, it is likely bad.

I was charging them up but i putted the charger in my steel oven lol
( as protection for an explotion )

But yes "lose voltage" is a good indicator for bad cells.

Here are 8 18650s that I just got out of an old HP 398876-001 laptop battery that was laying around.

Next to my lazerer mini 50mw.

Compared to the 16340 the 50mw uses. Anyone know the brand of the 18650?

I'm charging one up right now to see if they are any good.

calculated ~2400mAh 3.7V LG 18650, not sure of the particular model.

Based off specs 53.28Wh 11.1V found elsewhere.

Hmm. After a quick voltage test I found 4 good and 4 bad. Now I just need to find a use for them.

These are protected aren't they?
