How many Amps should a NUBM44 draw?

Hey guys, in the photo i m uploading is the amps that this diode draw from my power supply... I thought that the NUBM44 should draw about 4.5 amps at 5.2V if i m not wrong.... Am i doing something wrong by measuring the current this way or maybe this diode is not NUBM44?

You must regulate the current so that it does not exceed 4.5 amps. It will draw whatever you throw at it and burn itself out instantly if allowed to. Never connect directly to an unregulated power supply or battery.
 
If it was running at 4+ amps you wouldn't be able to hold it in place with your finger like that. A heat sink that small would heat up to boiling in 30 seconds with that diode.

If you have a DMM check the voltage at the diode pins. Your power supply voltage may be getting eaten by lead resistance.
 
So if i wanted to measure directly from my psu what should i change? Maybe the length and the alligator wire gauge? Is it possible that the wire is too long and too thin?

I used AWG#22 full copper to control that specific diode, you can supply an average of 4.5A, but in my personal experience for a V2 you can run it at 5A maximun, but laser's longevity is reduced.
 
Finally after changing wiring on the diode amps drawing is correct... 5amps and even more on 5+V... And getting pretty hot 😎.... Now i have to build my new host and throw it inside!
