Jerry,
They quit doing that a long time ago. Apparently, Paypal is in need of those pennies, too.![]()
I did it six weeks ago? Took 3 days for the two payments to come in and then it was all verified.

they charged me a dollar
There was actually some site called bidbay I think. They got sued and shut down by ebay. Ebay thinks that they own the whole concept of online auctions or something.I agree fully. It is a giant catastrophe. They are trying to push towards giant sellers, and weed out the regular people. Do you ever notice how eBay used to be about deals, and now it's nothing special? All the good in ebay has been monopolized, and aggravated to the point it no longer exists.
You cannot even sell on ebay without offering Paypal as an accepted payment choice. WTF is up with that? Further monopoly on the part of two "separate" organizations working as one.
I have sold stuff, and simply put NA@NA.com for the paypal address, and then put "NO PAYPAL" in the auction description.
Also, ebay used to offer fixed fees, then over time they slowly snuck in new fees to tack on. Now you are charged a final value fee.
Ugh. The whole experience just rubs me the wrong way.
I'd be surprised if we don't see a second form of auction site birth and grow within the next decade. Can ebay really survive alone with all of these dirty tactics?
The whole paypal and ebay deal is fundamentally rigged in favor of the seller and it all starts with ebay's moronic policy of the buyer being the only one able to leave negative feedback. Assuming that sellers could leave negative feedback then the bad buyers would eventually be sorted out. In the current system you've got 200+ 100% feedback buyers who are total assholes and there's no way to mark them.
Also their "not as described" deal is bs. You can buy something, claim not as described, send a box a rocks back to them with tracking and boom you win. Nothing they can do.
Ebay/paypal is basically set up entirely to make new and casual buyers feel secure.
Sorry that was a stupid mistake in my post. I meant buyer and somehow seller ended up there.I am confused by your post. First you say it is rigged for the seller, then at the end, you say buyers. ??
I think ebay is rigged towards the buyer. The seller has to take so much crap it really isnt worth trying to sell stuff there. The sellers are responsible for the item they sell all the way until it gets into the buyers hand. If the buyer doesnt receive it (or even if they do, as in scammers) all they have to do is file a report with ebay/paypal and BOOM! the money is removed from the sellers account. The buyer only has to complain and they get their money back. The seller is left with nothing. It is up to the seller to insure their stuff, but if you have ever had to deal with post office insurance claims, you will think again before shipping anything of value thru them. It is laughable when sellers claim in big bold type I WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR LOSS OR whatever. That is so far from the truth. They ARE responsible for everything.
I wont even go into the ridiculous fee structure ebay pigs have set up or the fact that they (ebay) collects double fees because they own paypal. That is just not right, IMO.
Back when ebay started, it was a lot of fun and you could make some decent money selling stuff you had laying around the house. Those days are long gone. The sellers live in fear of the dreaded negative feedback which buyers are free to leave, but sellers arent. Trying to get feedback removed is about as easy as it would be for a man to have a baby. It isn't fair by any stretch of the imagination.
I hated it when they started shielding buyers id's from others to see, when they shortened the amount of history purchase time available to check and lots of other 'improvements' they have made. It is a scammers paradise. Dont buy any 'name' brand things because the chances are very good it is a knock off from China. It doesnt do much good to report obvious scams either.
Ebay has a lock on the online auction but it is fading fast. Sellers are fed up and are closing their stores and getting out of dodge. Ebay became too big for its britches and got greedy. I wish they would go broke.
There is a way to check anyones past feed back for any negatives, even if it was a long long time ago. Go here Negative/Neutral Feedback and type in any users id. click on the 'allow 1000' and 'false positives' too. It dredges up stuff from when ebay started. Pretty useful.
my two cents

Oh, WHO would keep 25k in their paypal account???? And for gods sake, WHY?
Anything I'm ever buying over internet is laser related stuff which is available on sites like HTD , O-like and others, and ofcoure the forum itself.
So I as a buyer never had any problems with ebay because I rarely ever buy on it, I only bought my soldering iron over the ebay and it's great, came packaged exeptionaly well, some Wiltec German seller, awsome guy, got me free shipping to Croatia for 3 KG box.
In any way, you all folks can actually recieve paypal funds - I cannot .
I emailed paypal couple of times now, they say it's due to the complexity of monetary system and some sh*t.
I can't sell any stuff , to the forum or over Ebay, anyhow. Unless some of you feel OK paying 30% of price to the bank for bank transfer to the account. Which nobody in sane mind would do next to sellers like ones we have.
So my experience as a Ebay seller is non-existent, and will stay that way for indefinetly.
Sucks, eh?
Uhh... I can send money and buy lasers and parts with PayPal! :crackup:I
Point out ONE thing in that, that does NOT suck!

You are at least able to get money on paypal and you can send me 445 nm diode and I can send you $40.lol I meant about the sales vs fees thing I posted. now THAT sucks.
You are at least able to get money on paypal and you can send me 445 nm diode and I can send you $40.
If I were to sell you a 445nm diode it'll in the end cost you $100 to transfer funds over banks which costs money, times, and nerves.
In short, you can sell, I can't. How bad does THAT suck?!
I've wondered about that myself. I emailed the PP staff, they said it's because of complexity of the worldwide monetary system, and that they are working on it.Ok, ok, that sucks too. Is it because Paypal thinks Croatia sucks or what is the reason? Just because you don't have a US Address?

I've dug up, by google, some old thread in Croatian forum, saying that the OP communicated with PP staff and that we should be able to recieve paypal funds... by 2007. Yippee-EFFin'-yay.
BTW, FYI, Croatia sucks. I'm getting the hell out of here after I finish college. Hopefuly somewhere in Ontario, Canada![]()
I am not refering to weather.Does it snow there? Humidity in summer? What type of govt do you have going on over there?
California sucks too, except for the weather and total lack of humidity. It costs both arms and both legs to live here. Everything is a lot higher here than the rest of the country. Plus the rest of the country doesnt like Californians lol
I am not refering to weather.
I am refering to what passes for government here.
VAT is 23%, each and every of folks up there in high position have $4000 paycheck monthly, which is highest possible in Croatia, and also tell US to start saving and be rational with our $400 paychecks.
Ahh don't ask. It just suckz.
