Hot new loc build in a energizer host with dimming circuit

A few weeks ago i posted a thread about the energizer lithium flashlight that has a built in dimmer all you do is hold down the tail switch and it dims the led so i had an extra loc so, i decided to try this i know that i couldn't use a cc driver so i just soldered the ld right to the dimmer circuit i used a heatsink that i had from a old party laser and it works great it dims the laser :yh: in the pics below it shows the difference but in person you can see it alot better but i just thought i'd share this with you guys

That's an awesome host. Did you ever test the stock driver to see what kind of current it's putting into the diode?
 
i've always wondered if it was possible to wire in a voltage regulator into these stock drivers, and maybe a small cap to control voltage spikes.....then driving a diode would cost a dollar or two.
 
I just sent a couple very nice led drivers to Igor to test out as laser diode drivers for this very same reason. they will handle 1000ma so easy so they could be good for the 12X.

The host puts out 3.8volts max and when I dim it
it puts out 1.7volts I need a better dmm i have the little pocket one from Radio Shack , When I tryed to read the current in mA the LCD go blank and the meter starts to beep because if the current is over 200mA the can't read it
so I read it in volts and thats what I got!
 
You need to put the DMM in series to measure amps... btw you can put the DMM on 2000ma setting. then increase the figure by a factor of 10, to find the current! I would guess its around 350-400ma maybe even more!
