Not to be the fly in the honey, but i still dont know why post count means anything. All it means is you made 15000 statements. How is this an achievement? And I know they were quality statements, but thats not really the point. I just dont understand applauding post count, or the need to strive for it like some people do.

I showed my GF my post count the other day, and she looked at me like I was a retard for spending the time to make all those posts. And I have to agree with her. It takes hours, and hours to maintain a 10 post a day ratio. Multiply that by 3 years of posting, and thats a huge amount of time to be spent online chatting. Yet people applaud it.

This isnt directed at you Dave. There are a lot of us that maintain a 8-10 post ratio. Myself included. I feel like loser spending so much time online. :yabbem: There are far more important things i should be spending my time on.

depends on who you are talking about a lot of daves posts have had quality information in them im not saying all of them but compared to some people his ratio is pretty damn good. and i think that in a way it shows how dedicated he is to the forum especially when you factor in that he is a mod. :beer:

Like I said, its not about quality, and really not about Dave either. This just happened to be a perfect platform for an opinion that I've had for a while. A lot of people think post count is important. So important that some people become redundant, or just echo the same opinions as others. I know some people would make cracks at my post content, but I'm not redundant, I dont echo others opinions, and I dont post just to increase my count. In fact I've been posting less because I'm not going to waste my time here anymore.

I kind of see where you are coming from on raw post count. But I disagree with your last paragraph. I consider my time online to be valuable social interaction. I learn things I couldn't learn anywhere else and develop some friendships online.

I also try to maintain a reasonable balance between online and real world. It helps that I have an iPad and can have LPF with me all the time, yet be able to set it down at a moments notice and do something else.

My point is just to say that not all time spent online is wasted and I don't think that being online makes one a loser. Of course I am online a lot so I feel that way, maybe I am a loser!
