off to a good start but you might want to heatsink the laser better but by the looks you going to do great in this hobby.
Btw you might want to buy an esd bracelet.
Dont want to kill your lasers.
also an esd mat helps but not needed, i am just paranoid.

I actually have both an esd mat and braclet, but they aren't in the picture. As for the heatsink, I'm planning on drilling a hole through it for the laser, but at this point, I'm not sure I need it, as with 2 minutes of constant operation, the module temp only raises by about 5 degrees centigrade.

its a personal thing i pushed a 445nm laser up to 2.2A in a heatsink for about 3 second luckly it was in my heatsink that had 3 thermal electric coolers on it.
was one heck of a beam...
speaking of which i just sold that laser to buy my galvos.
