Type DIODE in the search box at the top of the forum's page and read-up. (a lot of reading)
It will all come together as to what each part is and what it does.
I started out not knowing anything about lasers also, 6 weeks later, I built my first laser, and it worked. (and still does)
There are even threads that tell you how to remove the diode from the old computers.
If you are interested in learning to build a hi-power laser, all the answers are here. It is up to you to find them.
No one here is going to spoon feed them to you.
That's part of growing up, finding out things for yourself.
However, if you have searched and searched and still can not find out an answer to a question, we will guide you in the right direction.
