PROBLEM RESOLVED, I'M GETTING http://www.aixiz.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=1_23&products_id=94

Hey everybody.

I have recently been looking into making a spiro/sound controlled scanner dealie and I was also looking for a labby solution.
Might I say, I'm pretty much only looking at true lab lasers, not lab-style.

I have been looking at http://www.o-like.com/b2b_cpinfo.asp?id=966  for that solution, nothing much fancier.

Now I've been told by Susie that the circuit is rectifying, but on the specs sheet it says 5.0 Volts DC.

I asked her about this, and our E-mail Back and forth Went as followed:
Hello. I am from LPF.
The red and black wire leading from the driver go straight into a 5 volt power supply, I assume.
I have a 125V AC to 5.5 Volt DC power supply, could I just connect the output of the power supply to a resistor to push down the voltage to 5 volts, and then enclose all of it?

Yes ,the black and red leading wire connect with 5Volt power supply .

Can not do as you said .our board is rectifying circuit  (AC-DC

Thanks for the quick response, Could you reccomend any type of 125VAC to 5AC power adaptor or power supply?

It would be much appreciated, thank you.

We have 125VAC to 5VDC power supply to offer you if you like .

Now she recommended a 125VAC to 5VDC power supply, but she previously had mentioned that it's a rectifying circuit and takes 5VAC.

Can you, susie, or anyone else on LPF offer me a solution to find the correct power supply, or have any owning experience with this one?

Is it AC or DC?  I'm getting all sorts of mixed messages.

Thank you very much, everyone.

You're best bet is to get one of these from Aixiz: http://www.aixiz.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=1_23&products_id=94

Here's a review of them here on LPF: http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1213471542/0

They cost a little less than the one from o-like, they work great, and they come with a PS that can take 90-240VAC input. It should be perfect for what you need. Not to mention, you won't have to wait for shipping from China.. As if that wasn't enough, they are easily capable of 100+mW if you turn them up. Personally I recommend not turning them all the way up, since this will shorten the lifespan.

I personally own three of them and have had no problems with any. One I have kept powered on for close to 5 months continuously and have had no power loss, mode-hopping, or any other signs of aging.

There is no transformer on the board, and only one obvious diode so that looks like the usual 5v DC input. So as long as your AC/DC outputs enough ma you should be ok.

The specs of the O-Like module with power supply PCB is stated
at 5.0V DC at 359mA... :-?

But like EF stated... the Aixiz Labby is a good one (I have 2 of them)
and the PCB works of the AC line... 8-)

Dang.  That does look a hell of a lot nicer.
How does the input/tuning work?

like, the power supply.  How do you go about assembling it?  According to Dave's review, they don't include a box or a cord any more.  I'm not about to go messing around with 125V of outlet powah.

Could you recommend to me a power cord that has this type of input plug thingy?

I hate to use a technical term like "thingy" but I am not sure what those are called.

I just cut the cord off a lamp and soldered the end directly to the input pins on the driver (with a little heat-shrink tubing, but electrical tape would work). It worked fine..

Oh. Very cool. I could DIY this, then. Just gotta make sure I'm getting the right wires, but I can check that with my multimeter. About how big is the PCB? I want to enclose it so it doesn't short or anything.

The nice thing about AC is that there is no polarity. It doesn't matter which of the two wires go to which pin.

Don't forget to unplug the lamp first...... :P ;D ;D ;D

Oh, don't worry Jerry, I gnaw through the wires with my teeth. It is the most effective way to do it.

Oh, very cool

I'll end up making a nice enclosure with all sorts of buttons and maybe some clever way of turning the pot.
