Help setup this laser please!

At this point, he appears to be someone yanking members around for the fun of stirring people up to me.

I bought a used Boeing 747..
The seller gave me the flying instructions I'm just not good with
flying at all and I'm not even sure what a Control Yoke or Altimeter
is, I guess I'll look it up but I really like this Airplane even though I
have no use for it I though it would just be fun to have, he gave
me a barrel of fuel for it but all the flying instructions are like a
different language to me that's why I was just asking around
seeing if it made sense to any one else.:wtf:

By the time I got to barrel of fuel you had me laughing so hard. :D

That's pretty much says it all. You hit the nail on the head--very clever and funny!

At this point, he appears to be someone yanking members around for the fun of stirring people up to me.

I have thought the same for a while but was attempting to give the guy the benefit of the doubt thinking it could be someone very young -kind of sounds like it.

Here's some guidelines on when it's okay to make a new thread:

It's okay to make a new thread when you have completely new question, and have already scoured the forum and Google for your answer. We don't expect you to have access to or understand scientific literature, but look in the obvious places before you create a new thread. It's also okay to create a new thread when you want to share something with the community such as pictures or reviews of lasers.

In either case, try to condense your threads. If you have short reviews of multiple lasers from the same manufacturer or of the same type, then put all the reviews into one long thread. Likewise, if you have multiple questions of a similar nature, ask all of them in one thread.

It's NOT okay to make a new thread just because "it's faster than searching the internet" or "This question is slightly different." If the questions you have bear any connection to questions you or another member have already asked, post them in that thread instead. The only exception here is with extremely old threads that contain no helpful information.

In your case, you've asked multiple questions all pertaining to the same laser. In your last thread, you were asking how to wire a controller to a head, and now you're asking if said controller is compatible with a different laser. There is definitely a connection there.

Almost all of us joined the forum with loads of questions just like you, but we all managed to stay out of the red. We're not bullies who like to pick on newbies, but we do expect said newbies to follow the rules and the forum etiquette if they wish to be accepted into the community. If you follow the above guidelines, people will be more than willing to help you when you truly need it. :yh:

EDIT: Also, don't be afraid to use the PM system. If you have a question and a specific member seems knowledgeable on the subject, message them before you start a new thread.

Either way it was a social experiment. Seems like what's being exploited is people's willingness and desire to help. One of of not the troll on the forum has enough knowledge to set the hook on a lot of the seasoned members. And then the safety red flags that push the issue of accepting that bad people have the same access we do and act like they haven't the sense to come to their own conclusion for OBVIOUS questions. Sometimes the shock of the absurdity wears on the restraint of some here on the forum.
About the OP he may have just bought something he doesn't understand for one reason or another. For such a niche forum we have a dedicated troll that boarders on pathological. I don't think this guy is it.

Oh and sorry can't help you with that since I only have handhelds.

The personality here is not the same as the standard troll as you said dden. I'm having trouble determining if the Vietnamese spam or whatever is a bot or a legit troll with no life, and if he/she is the same troll that keeps spamming the board with dumb questions.

Well I received the laser today and it is built very nicely along with the controller, I still don't understand what he wanted me to solder because all the ports are, rs232 which is serial communication to a computer for output power and stuff and the other port I guess is a VGA port to plug into the computer or maybe not, it says power/signal port but I've never seen a DC power supply with a VGA connector at the end lol

Yep, Melles stuff is all great quality.

Just because the number of pins/connectors are the same doesn't mean it's VGA.

One could certainly be RS232, that makes sense. One is for the laser itself (on opposite site from RS232/Power/Signal I think?) and the other will be power input/control to the driver.

You've been provided the pin configuration already, several times it seems.

You'll need to make up a 15 pin connector (i.e. buy one, wire it up [likely solder it]) to fit the 15 pin power/control connection and hook up the pins to the correctly to power supply/switches/signal as required.

You have the pinout and the manual. Use them.

Alright so like buy the little 15 pin connector and some wire to solder onto the pins? Well I guess I'll learn either by making it work or by breaking it, at least it didn't cost too much I found the same laser on eBay for 900 dollars this only cost 100. Oh well:undecided:

Or learn what you're doing some other way first and make it work after that? I personally fail to see why you even bought it in the first place... Better to start with something easier/cheaper.

To me it's not very expensive I just contacted the seller though he is going to guide me through it I hope.

Eh nevermind he didn't know anything about it only the instructions that were told to him, otherwise he said he doesn't know either. Guess I'm screwed oh well I guess I'll just have fun with the 1w 445nm kale CNC laser I ordered it should be fun.

Well I got the laser to work guys! I'm really happy, I emailed Sam from Sam's laser FAQs and he made me a connector for the laser and put all the switches on it, he knew how because he had this laser at one point. It's a very cool laser now tho.

I can't wait to see the pictures of it working!
