Help purchasing a Red laser pointer

A labby is a lab style unit. You could probably get one that you could adjust the power and have a continuous duty cycle.

Also, the lower the power, the longer the duty cycle. If a handheld is what you want, I'd definitely get the 200mw SFCR from Sci-Fi. Only problem is that it would have a duty cycle of less than two minutes, which is why I suggested a lab style.

I see. Does that mean it turns on and off every 2 minutes? That might work, but would rather not have to worry about it. Might be better off myself with a unit that I can build, with a high power diode but not running it at full power.

No, a duty cycle just says how long you can keep the laser on until it gets too hot. You can leave it on as long as you choose, but it might overheat and kill the diode. Most of the time, the bigger the host/heatsink, the longer you can run your laser without it overheating. Also lower powers generate less heat.

My aixiz labbies can be left on indefinitely. Would add still cut them off after a while though.

Look at aixiz. Com they have red lab style lasers that have a cooling fan for continuous use. 180mw of 638. Although the divergence won't be great it's fully tunable to run at lower power.

DANG TONY!! you beat me again..

so here the deal-e-o

the red 180mW labby from Aixiz is by far the best deal going..

WHY? glad you asked?

1st ) you are buying from Houston Texas NOT Hong Kong

2nd) no other company has better service both before and AFTER all sales

3rd) that red is NOT 180mW mine makes a stable and gorgous red/orange color and is a stable 230mW- no duty rest cycle either.

4th) that labby is very compact- small footprint. great beam profile and not bad divergence.

5th) they offer several other wavelengths that are the same form factor- so when building with more they all match and look like a very pro build.

6th) AixiZ is one of the most generous sellers to the forums- ILDA and much more.

7th) AixiZ has been the hobby/amature DIY guys best friend forever. They rely on volume for profit -- so we get a much better deal -quick shipping and never any issues when we do have a problem. I know this as I do customer support for AixiZ AND NOT as an employee- but as a friend and a way to thank AixiZ for all they have done for both us and myself.

Those few items that are returned??

I get most of them to toy with--

8th (but prolly NOT the last reason) Dr Charles Maricle ( his PHD is in Medical laser applications)is running for a seat in the US Senate- and we need him to win this election more than most here can possibly know. There will be very few who are on our side in the current debates and news about lasers and aircraft.
So only a fool can fail to see how important Chuck & AixiZ is to all of us.

will we get support from O-like?? CNI?

Do you have any links for the product? I would love to help a local member, you guys have helped me a ton in the past!

Try looking at those Ebay 301 lasers in 650nm I have 2 with a consistant 265mw of power.

can anybody else can verify these ebay 301 lasers being that good?

and how do you all highlight and post a previous post?

To quote, just hit the quote button at the bottom of the post. As for the ebay 3s01s, they're hit or miss depending on the seller. You might want to try Sci-Fi Lasers. Their lasers will all be good quality, cheap, and come with excellent customer service from a member of this forum.

duh quote ok thanks!

yea I already bought a sc-fi 100 mw (117mw) green and its great, just always looking for deals though!

SFCR is a great deal too. If you just want cheap though, search for which ebayer sells the best newwish pens and you should be able to get one that hits 100mw.

well I did that too, just received a week ago the 3pack of pens from ebay green ,red and violet. and I would suggest these to any beginner especially for $13,cant go wrong!

well I don't know about that, just new to the hobby and want as much as I can get as fast as I can. haha

would like to try building but seems cheaper just to buy(might be wrong)?

Once you get some knowledge of the components and some custom builds then try to make one. If you rush it now you'll spend more on fried diodes and tools. Accumulate tools for testing while you get a small collection together. Then your understanding will be much more. After your comfortable with what diodes use what aperage etc then buy some parts and have at it

In most cases building is cheaper in fact. Welcome to LPF and to the Lasering hobby

sounds like a plan Tmack, think im gonna take one of these cheap ebay ones ,the violet since it seems weakest and try pmans thing on making it focusable. Electrical stuff is my weak point, I can put a timing chain in a car but solder a driver all of a sudden im scared to death.

and still have my pman special too when I can get the fasttech parts in!

I was lucky to find this forum though with all its informed people.

Haha you sound like me. I've been a gear head for years but never needed to fix small electronics . But now I'm ordering hosts drivers and diodes like the rest. First I got a bunch of lasers, the a dmm, lpm, soldering iron, and now I have boxes full of lasers and parts, hosts, etc. still sooo much to learn but I feel much more confident now.
