help me fix my laser!!

and standard or extended barrel??
trying to use the same host you did

It comes with it. Extended barrel will just stick out further. They were mainly designed for custom focus rings to match how far the three element threads stick out of a module wen focused so you can swap between them without having to adjust the module position.

I recently tried the extended barrel and I like it because of the fact that it sticks out more, also if you decide to use an external lens spring it will fit better. I also really don't care for the standard free focus knob because they are too small so I use an extended focus knob. Keep in mind that if you do a 9mm 445 build that it will be very powerful, you will want to avoid any contact with the beam including your fingers, so its nice to have it easier to focus. I burned myself once (not while focusing) and I emphasize only once, so I have a fear of coming into contact with the beam of one of these death rays. Protect your fingers you only have 10 of them.

so all parts are ordered..
what was the duty cycle did you use for the 9mm ss you built?

I wont run mine over 60 seconds, I worry though that may be a little long though, I have run it a couple of minutes before and it got hot so that isn't safe, but I was lucky to get an especially efficient diode (more powerful than average) so maybe shorter duty cycle. I strongly recommend limiting it to 60 seconds or less, I really like the host but it may be a little small for a laser of this power.

What parts did you order? I hope you got the extended and tapered heat sink because its their largest one. Also if you decided to get the module with driver included from DTR then the drilled pill and contact board are required. I will explain if you have any questions. You also need the extension tube so you can run it on 2 18650 batteries, 2 16340's aren't good enough for a laser of this power. Also if your using the x-drive from DTR you must not ever insert the batteries backwards, not ever.

9mm 445 Diode In Module With Leads & 405-G-2
Item# 0001 , Quantity: 1 , Lens Options: G-2 Extended Barrel

405-445 Three Element Glass Lens
, Quantity: 1

Survival Laser Stainless Steel Host Assembly, Extended Heat Sink

DIY 445nm 2.2A Driver & Pill Module

and i got the extension tube because i vape and have a couple great 18650 laying around.. Panasonic NCR18650B
have you tryed putting some better 18650 in yours ?

and i also got the other parts you listed..external spring and extended length focus ring..don't know if i needed that one but got it anyways...and some heat wrap

spent $120. at survivallaser and $118 at DTR

what part were you haveing the most heat with the diode or the driver?

what would be some simple things i could do for heat dissipation... could i take some copper wire and thermal paste it to the driver?

it just seems like such a big heat sink for the diode to be getting hot so fast...

Good it looks like you got all the right parts. You will have a powerful and high quality laser and you know what's in it and how its put together.

Yes I recently purchased these:
18650 KeepPower 2600mAh Samsung ICR18650-26F Protected Button Top [KP18650 2600mAh ICR18650-26F] - $7.60 : Illumination Supply, Quality Flashlights and More!
And these:
18650 Efest IMR18650 V1 2000mAh High Discharge Flat Top [EFEST IMR18650V1 2000] - $6.49 : Illumination Supply, Quality Flashlights and More!
The UltraFire work but certainly not recommended, they're better used in a low powered laser and whatever you buy, everyone please stay away from those generic blue ones.

so the flat tops work?

The diode, don't worry about that driver, there is nothing you can do and no its not a big heat sink for a diode of that power.

No the flat tops wont work as they are so I am currently using them in 2 other lasers. You can buy Neodymium magnets to have the option of converting your batteries between button top and flat top.

Can you please do us a favor and buy some safety goggles too? That 1.8W laser can fry your eyes extremely quickly. For $41/pair you can at least protect your eyes to make sure the environment is safe before enjoying the beam. You can't buy new eyes.
