Help - How much current to set on a 60mW Green diode/module?

Hey, I broke the driver on a 60mW Green module. I have another driver and need to set the current on it. My question is, I have no idea how much to set the current to... Any suggestions would be appreciated.

(If you want to know the exact items, this is the module whose driver I broke: Industrial TTL Green laser Module 50~60mW£­>5¡«500mW green laser module£­>Laser&lighting products£­>www.0-like.com and this is the driver I'm going to use to replace it: 2pcs CC power supply driver£­>Laser Accessories£­>Laser&lighting products£­>www.0-like.com)
 





Make yourself an LM317 constant current driver with 100 ohm pot and a 2ohm fixed resistor, supply it with 6 volts.Put a 1ohm resistor between the supply and the driver to measure the current. Connect it to your LD (having tested the driver first) start at max resistance and gradually adjust it, you will be able to go up to 625ma I would guess that it should fire up the LD.... I cannot get the o-like page to load so I have not seen the module.

Edit, just read that you have a driver, same principal applies, put a 1ohm res in the supply, turn the pot until it reaches lase point measure the current in mv across the resistor. The important thing is you need to be sure of what current the driver is supplying. This does not tell you what current is required it just tells you where you are.

You could try asking Suzie if she can tell you the required current.

You could replace it with that small TTL driver, but if I were you I'd do what rog suggested and make a LM317 driver for it. My 50-60mw module takes about 450mA of current give or take a little.
 
The reason I don't want to use an LM317 driver is because I need the TTL since it's for a laser scanner. I may just slowly turn the pot while the laser is connected and see how it goes.
 
Ah. In that case, you can use the small TTL driver in your link, but the modulation speed is quite slow. You will notice this if you use it with anything faster than 10k galvos. I recommend posting a WTB in the BST section to see if anyone might have a TTL driver board laying around from a broken laser.
 
Yeah, I have "30k" (I put quotes because I'm not sure if they're REALLY 30k or more like 20k)... I just want to see my stuff do SOMETHING. I'm going to build the sound card DAC soon (I saw your thread with instructions... will be following that :) ).
 
Here's a possible solution: get a FlexMod. Then your module will have both analog and TTL capability, and plenty fast as well.

yeah, I was thinking about it... i'm just a little too cheap. well, if I get the DAC going (need to borrow an oscilloscope from a relative or something), then I'll just use the slow TTL driver for now, and if things look good but I want better... i'll switch.
