OD 3 from 450 to 680? Is it just me, or would that be cardboard taped to a pair of glasses?[/quote]

Bridge, what he is saying is that it does not make any sense....every manufacturer out there has posted many different values for that large range of wavelengths....Can you be a little more specific - possibly quote some laboratory tests that confirm that ? My reason for doubting that claim is clear - safety of the forum members - Pseudo has the same motives as well - while the majority of us "old timers" all have goggles (and sometiumes use them, too ! LOL) I know that some of the junior members, or those that have just recently gotten into this hobby do not have any protection. Pictures, and an explaination are in order I believe.

ok,laser googles is to protect you eyes from destroy by the power laser, our laser is coating from 450-680nm ,who can reflection the 532nm ,473nm ,650nm ,635nm through you eyes and avoid injure. for laser goggles ,the mostly paremeter is O.D(optical density), which is  denote the energy transmittion through the google,it also the energy to you eyes,if so much energy to you eyes, there will be danger. our laser is O.D=3,that is 99.9% is reflection by the laser, which can be useful below 1W lasers, if more power laser the O.D need to be 4,5...
oh ,how can I put some pictures of our products, and our workmate wear it at working?somebody help me. :)

Uhh, if it blocks all visible wavelengths wouldn't it pretty much be a blindfold?

THAT is precisely the point I am making....there is no way it can block 99.9% of those wavelengths, and not be welding goggles.

all - anytime you block so much of the visible spectrum - you are endangering your eyes, because your pupils will dialate, letting in more light....having goggles that are designed to SPECIFICALLY block one or maybe even two wavelengths are okay, but much beyond that, and you are REALLY risking your eyes. $40.00 is $40.00 but eyes are priceless - I still have yet to have seen anyone recover 100% from retinal damage incurred by exposure to laser radiation.

Bridge, I'm new to the LPFs too. But I think it takes 20 posts to be able to post a picture.

Hope it helps,
Alex

good questions.

just as you know, the visible light is from 400-700nm ,our goggles is from 450-680nm,so from 400-450nm (T>50%))can be transmitte to you eyes and let you see things the same with no goggles.
so ,don't worry.

so anything viewed through the goggles will have a blue/red tint?

what about what senkat said about the goggles blocking toomuch light and the pupils dialaiting which can cause more damage?
