Welcome, Bradford. As always I'd like to let you know that there are some very knowledgeable people here who are more than willing to answer any questions you might have. Being new to lasers, it is best if you ask about a certain build before you plunge into buying the parts to make it as there are always problems you haven't thought about. Enjoy your stay here.
Also, take advantage of the search functions. There is one at the top of the page, but a better one at the bottom. That one is the Google search function and can find more information than searching the threads.

Thanks guys. I don't want to look like a smart a## but at the same time the mosquito stuff was a joke I am not some drunk redneck fixing to set myself on fire. I took welding in high school and currently am a Certified Network Professional, computer repair technician, software engineer, webmaster. I am not too good though to ask a question if I don't understand. I all too well know the dangers of lasers. I had laser adult tonsil removal. It hurt me so bad I was on demoral. That's right up there with morphine for those who don't know. Everything I drank and ate for 1 year tasted like ashes. One occasion I couldn't get to my demoral and convulsed on the floor until I passed out from the pain. Please don't ever burn animals with laser and think it's funny! As for safety, if you get the cheap red lens glasses you might want to pull the lens off and tape it around a pair of uva/uvb sunglasses. My sd301 would go for 1 mile but barely able to get through my safety lens.


P.s. yeah I got the thermal compound. I may wind up with extra parts but they will get used. Probably buying a press next month from Stern Electronics (they bought out Radio Shack).

Anyone ever tried using 2 sets of the g2 lens on a build like this?

Anyway's blue lenses are usually for red lasers
the red, orange and green lenses for usually 190nm-540nm..

Laserbee: the mosquito mention was from another post of his
and while he's at it I think some better battery's are also needed
in order to run his NUM44..

Yes, you are confused about how these things work, Bradford. The 5000 mAh Trustfire 18650 batteries you bought might be 1000 mAh at best, but are likely much less. The solder station you bought that has a control labeled as temperature control just isn't. A true temperature controlled solder station has the temperature sensor in the tip that is microprocessor controlled to regulate the temp. This just has a pot that varies the current to the tip. You will learn these things with time.

Before I say this, I am within the law and using correct wording. I am not denying or confirming any speculation over any government weapons or that they have them.

That being said if h.a.a.r.p. is in fact an electric d.e.w. or directed energy weapon and China does have it....most of U.S. consumer laser pointers are coming from China. Is it possible for them to aim such increasing the voltage to the driver or diode to dzmage it...so consumers buy more? Some of these are being sold up to $600.00 and advertised as say a 100 watt laser pointer but in compliance with FDA regulations when you open it the paperwork stating they comply says max outut 5mw?

So why would anyone want to build their own remains a mystery to me?

Additional notes...most of those red safety glasses are from China too. It's just a red tinted lens. Now if you understand wavelength this red might shield your eyes from red laser but why is it being packaged and sold with blue or green laser?

Laser power. If you think a Laser Pointer can output
100 Watts.... I have a bridge to sell you....

3) Obviously you don't understand wavelength...
Red tinted Goggles to protect your eyes from
a Red Laser is like putting on Clear Goggles.
Only good to protect you from dust......

I realized last night about 2 lens and if the 1st was tight it would make it a flashlight.

My build may turn out different than the tutorial. I am questioning the module I ordered with the g2 lens opposed to the extended from survival store? I got both a drilled aluminum pill and aluminum pill with shelf so that gives me a few options. Wondering just how good and tight of a focus I will get from the module with g2 lens and not using the extended. Based on the tutorial the sd303 lasers have about 5 times the length from the diode to the g2 focusing lens

The module (A) wondering if the focusing lens can be removed and how easily?

My initial thought of the extended was great but it's kind of like a dremel tool. I know looks aint all but if it was ever dropped on concrete and hit the extended lens?

I think you may be right Jerry. A quick Google search would tell you that Aluminum is a good conductor of electricity.

Aluminum >> Conductivity
