First of all, sorry if this is the wrong section but after all, this is my first thread here :D.

Ok, hi everyone :o, I was recently introduced to this kind of lasers and forum by my friend Chris (mfo).

I was thinking of building my own laser,but due to the piece of shit country I live in and my lack of money I'm short on budget, so there are a few questions which I'd like to ask:

1) I want to build a 20 ~ 40 mW laser, my favorite colors are green/violate/blue.
Do you think I could get everything I need to build one of these for UNDER 40 dollars? Any recommended tutorials for total noobs on building a green/violate/blue? You think I could make it? :(.

If I build a 20 mW, would I see just a dot as if it was a regular 5mW red laser, or would I see a whole line of light in addition to the beam?

2) What's the difference between building a red one and a yellow one?
I heard that while red is the easier, when you approach colors like green, yellow, orange, etc. it gets way harder. Why is this?

3) What's 'IR'? I've seen it in almost every tutorial and none explained what it means o_o.

4) Would a 20 ~ 40 mW burn your retina in a fraction of a second like a 100 + would, or is it just a tad bit safer? I mean, you can point a red 5mW for a whole minute without anything happening, so for how long could you point yourself a 20mW before getting blinded? (not like ima try :wtf:).

First of all that is not required to make a point...

If your friend (mfo) steered you here... why did he not tell you
that the members here really don't like to spoon-feed new members..

You will need to read the Newcomers section and the Forum Rules
to start... a lot of your answers are there in the FAQs..

Then you can use the [Search] button with different search words
to find what you want to know..

There is a lot of Laser related info here... but you will need read..

I've read many guides in here. They all say "X is easier than Y" but many do not specify why, or don't go in-depth enough.
I'm not asking to be spoon fed. And no, my answers aren't in the FAQ's. I've read them already, after all.
Check what the TS has to say before giving the newcomer speech- I did not open this thread to get one.

Going by your numbered questions...

1) Go to the B/S/T section to see what is available
(you can use the [Search] button to find build Threads)
you will not see a 20mW beam without particulates in the air
(that has already been discussed in numerous threads)

2) There are no single Yellow LDs.... to build a red one
just use the [Search] button to find some red Build Threads.
(that has already been discussed in numerous threads)
For the difference in Green and Red Lasers you can use the
[Search] button and look up DPSS

3) Are you Trolling:thinking:... you really don't know what Infra Red is
after seeing it in almost every tutorial. I guess you must have
skipped over that part..
Oh... almost all TVs that have been sold over the pasr 20 years
use an IR Remote control...

4) any laser over 5mW is to be considered dangerous... and shining
a 5mw red into your eyes for a whole minute is just dumb.. It's about
as intelligent as looking into the noon sun for a whole minute...
On that 20mW blinding test I would not recommend it... but hey...
give us the results...

I know what infra red is. I did not know that IR was an acronym to Infra Red. It didn't occur to me that it may refer to that.

I'm getting tired of you douchebag. As I said I did not open this thread to get a speech on how I should use the search button and read the stickies because that's the first thing I do when I join any forum.
I did infact ask Chris already but I prefer having the opinions and facts of a whole forum instead of that of one person.

Edit: Prove wrong my ass you just made yourself look like an idiot o.O, make sure you actually disprove the other in anything and that you're right before typing "sorry to prove you wrong", but so far you're yet to disprove a thing.

I know about noobs coming asking the same questions over and over again. I am fairly active on many other forums and I flame people 24/7 for being stupid retards (after they show me they are, ofcourse).

There is a difference between saying "Noob go use search function", with a despise tone. The noob will give you a big nice "Fuck you" and await for a nicer guy.

If you tell the noob "If you use the search function, or read stickies you'll get a better answer", he's most likely to reply positively and go check them.
If he doesn't then and keeps asking, you've got a freeway to flame him.

If the noob tells you he already read the god damn sticky, then answer the question because he's most likely to be asking on a particular case, or wants a good discussion or in-depth information with detailed explanations which tutorials do not provide.
