Why hello there, been reading these forums for like 2 weeks now thought i'd sign up (mainly cause i need a little help with my first laser build )

As you have probably noticed, 2 weeks worth of reading barely scratched the surface of the info available here.
BTW: If the diode had, as you stated, a little plastic lens in front of it. It is probably the wrong diode.(CD=low power 650nm/IR) There should be 2 of them in that sled. You want the one with three pins, not 4.
