Hello everyone!

Hello Ricker and Welcome.
I also am a long time laser enthusiast and have built and burned for years.
I couldn't help but notice in your pic your amber safety glasses, are they ebay or T-Rex?
The reason I ask is I recently bought some better glasses at the recommendation of members here and all I can say is wow, they give me much better visibility and better protection too. I had been doubling up my cheaper glasses. :banghead:
I'm not affiliated with the sell what so ever I just love these glasses so I thought I would share the link when I saw yours.
These are really good for use with the high power blue lasers where as some of the ebay glasses let some blue light through, you should not be able to see any blue when wearing your safety glasses while using blue lasers, if you can see blue they are not doing the job.

Hey RC! Thank you so much, I actually am going to order the more expensive $58.00 Eagle Pair® 190-540nm & 800-2000nm Laser Safety Goggles from Survival, I even have the page bookmarked, and yes, those are T-Rex, which, now using this forum as a resource, I realize is a terrible brand for the high power lasers I own, thank you again I appreciate it so much!

Thanks Rich I appreciate that! I love the search bar! Even if I can't find the answer I'm still a little leery to post a thread with a question due to not finding the needle in the haystack so to speak, even with using the LPF Search being a high-powered magnet. :crackup:

I also want to mention, since I joined and mentioned wanting a Sci-Fi laser, Eitan (TheJoker301) Pmed ME and helped me through the way with any questions I had which brought me to buying an Arcane 2.0 (7w+ 445nm) :paypal: in which he is now making, and I am very excited to make my first review on here. :san:

That's a very very powerful laser! Always be sure to exercise safety with that! It can start a fire in seconds..

Most definitely! Thank you very much for the concern APEX1! :beer: Back when I was 18 I would not have trusted myself with this! (Not that the NUBM44 was around then) But it will be an outside away from everyone type of laser for sure. I am glad I have a few high powered lasers under my belt before ordering this monster. I am always so nervous about the folks whom don't use LPF nor have any clue to laser safety that see 2w+ lasers online and buy them. :yabbem: There's a guy at my work who comes in and waves his 303 around (obviously not crazy powerful, but still), hitting reflective windows and thinking it's just a riot. I lit into him a couple times about this and explained the legal trouble he'd be in if someone had accidentally received eye damage from him. Hopefully it stuck into his this skull since just hurting someone obviously doesn't seem to bother him. :undecided:

Also, cutting a fireblanket into a small square is great for protecting the walls when taking beam shots inside lol

Yeah? I always wondered where/what you folks are pointing to when taking indoors beamshots or burning with a high powered laser! Is there a specific one you recommend? (Link?) Thanks! :)

actually I just used the one that was in the hood of my 81 Camaro lol it'll still burns but it takes a lot longer :thinking:

Haha hey that would do the trick! I use a mouse pad right now due to it not catching on fire with my 2w but I assume with the 7w it may. Plus it's not very big.
 
I like to use a cinder block as a backstop, I also have my windows blacked out with 1/4 fireboard cutouts to fill in my window panes in my play room and all the walls are covered with black cardstock to make greenies viewable. I also have some wood wall targets.
Fresh air can also be important when burning indoors, I go a little overboard sometimes so my smoke detector in this play room is disabled.
I know this room is a mess, and it's dusty, but the room I sleep in is clean.
My point is it's a good idea to protect your workroom windows from reflects and stray beams getting outside and it's good to have some ready target area and fire extinguishers.
