Heatsinks

jake21 said:
how big is that

sorry Jake I just saw your question. They are about 4cm thick 7cm wide and 9 cm long the copper slug has a diameter of about 30mm and is about 30 mm long

I need a heatsink that will go around an AixiZ Module and be about 6mm in height, and 2mm smaller than a quarter in diameter.

Notice: the heatsink is the outer ring after the heaviest black inner ring (which is the AixiZ module). It has a quarter for size comparison.

Another Pic

Dude. That's just an aluminum spacer or a couple of washers. You don't need something custom lathed for that shape. Go to the hardware store. Save yourself alott of money.

Peace,
dave

Good luck drilling the hole of a washer bigger :( i only had a hand drill and pliers and it's quite hard, a lot more than it looks.

With only pliers... :-/ haven't figured out...[/quote]

You can also use a rat-tail file, or you can use a small sanding/grinding head in a drill. Heck, you could even probably get away with a piece of sandpaper wrapped around a dowel or pencil. Just get the washers as close to the correct size as you can, so you don't have to sand alott. Use your imagination and some Arctic silver.

Peace,
dave

I can not believe you just asked that. (sigh)

A piece of aluminum or other heat conductive metal that is placed on something to help dissipate heat from an object. (I guess this is a good way to describe it)

In this case it's a piece of aluminum with a hole for the aixiz module to be pressed into in order to help keep the diode cool.

EDIT: NVM, flogged posted something better. :P
