Have you ever been trusted with BIG news and been asked to keep it on the DL until the person is ready to unveil the news? I know everyone has probably been trusted with something at one point or another but I'm talking about BIG BIG BIG news or game changing news! Personally Ive been trusted with a ton of news (both big and small) and luckily for the person trusting in me, Ive never broken my promise to them!

What news have you been trusted with keeping on the DL (if you are still required to keep it on the DL then you can omit the news, I understand). Im assuming a few people will answer along the lines of expecting a child or wedding proposal but I am still interested to know.

PLEASE DONT SPILL THE BEANS IF YOU ARE KEEPING A SECRET STILL!!!! If you do spill then shame on you and its your own fault!

Ill start off with something silly but was kind of funny in the end. My current girlfriend Ashley (whom I love with all my heart and will one day marry), didn't start off the way we planned. She was my freshman roommates (Tom) good friend and he liked her a bunch, I mean a TON. Well long story short, she liked him a few years before that, he couldn't take the hint, she was kind of over him at this point and I ended up "stealing" her from him. We secretly dated behind his back (even though we lived together and she came over often) for roughly 3-4 months. She was going to Tampa for college (1 year younger than me) and didn't want a boyfriend due to having to leave so I man'ed up and transferred so we could stay together. About 4 months after we started dating behind Tom's back, he said something along the lines of "dude I'm done chasing Ashley, she just doesn't want me." Gave it about a week or two and then we spilled the beans. Luckily for me, Tom is a cool guy and he understood. Til this day we are still good friends and its been 4 years :D

Call me a hopeless romantic (although I'm not hopeless since I found love) or whatever but when you find true love, you don't let her go, even if it means being "wifed up" in college.

Your turn! If this thread gets rolling ill start telling some more of my secrets (that I can now tell)

Thanks for reading

Hmm...well along similar lines I began dating my current girlfriend, who I have been utterly taken with for 7 years, 1 year and 2 months ago. Well she didn't want people knowing she was dating so I kept it a secret for 4 or 5 months until she was ready to make it public. It wasn't anything to do with me, she had just had a lot of people hitting on her whom she had told no because she "didnt have time to date". So she didnt want to look bad since they were still friends of her's.

Other than that when I was younger I had to keep a secret that was about my dad planning to resign from his job and move us all to Texas. (at the time we resided in Louisianna, although I was born in Texas). I was exuberant but I kept the secret until he had his next job secured.

Dude, it can be tough to keep a secret! It feels good though if you succeed and that moment when you can blurt out the secret, that is also a good feeling. I had a hunch that people would be in a similar boat as my first story but only time will confirm this :D

EDIT: BTW +1 for being the first to join in, bumped you from 149 to 150

It is good to know that I am not the only one who had to keep a secret like that! +1 right back at ya! And thanks for the 149 to 150 push :D

Well you are deserving of it. Im sure I owed you it from previously helping me and the system not allowing it blah blah blah. Thanks you as well. Im interested to see if SBA has a past secret he can share. Seems to always have a good story as well.

Got a few of them BIG BIG BIG secrets.....

But I can't talk about them...:eg:

Hrm... a big secret? You mean like these 5W drivable single diode 589nm's I got? LOL

Well, I've been in your situation a few times. Once, some friends were married, but kept it from everyone until they could work out the logistics of their parents being able to attend a real ceremony (which was months). There have been pregnancy secrets of friends (I have no chillins). Insider stock secrets that I wish I could have traded on. I don't know if there has been anything BIG, but those are some that come to mind.

I like Jerry's answer. :)
