Wanted to share my experience with LaserPointerStore.com so far since I didn't see much about them on the front page.
I'm in the US. I purchased a Thor M2 from laserpointerstore.com on 9/9, shipping was fast, received it on 9/14. Really didn't expect that fast of a turn around so was really happy. Charged the batteries and tested it out that evening.
Things seemed great the first evening, used it for a few minutes in total, never more than 20 seconds or so at a time. Was happy. Put it back in the box and went to bed.
In the morning, turned it on, was bright for a couple of seconds and then faded. "OK, apparently the batteries are dead". Put the batteries on charge and went to work.
Home that evening, batteries are fully charged but the thing is dimmer than a normal walmart pointer.
After contacting LPS support (They have been quite responsive), They've acknowledged that it's probably defective and "Will send a replacement if I return the defective one to ... China ... ". Looking at shipping, USPS wants $47.50 to ship it back, not going to happen.
I've contacted support again to explain that I'm not paying that much to return a unit that didn't cost much more than this return cost to begin with. At this point I'm awaiting their reply and I'm going to reserve judgement until I hear the response. I'm hoping it's not the expected "OK, you're screwed, thanks for your money, use the laser for a doorstop or something."
I will say that if I look down into the battery chamber, there's a plastic disk that looks as though it started to melt. I'm guessing that's a bad omen.
