I have two of these air vent (or something!) setups that each use 1 General Scanning G 730 galvo.

I've searched High and Low for info on the G 730 galvo and find no information,
they have 2 wires so are open loop with no position detector feedback.

(While on the subject of feedback, Does anyone know what feedback system the PT30K galvo's
use that Kiyoukan did a GB on?)

These galvos I am posting about are mounted, controlling some strange sort of air vent vanes, does anyone know what these were used for? I purchased 2 of these at a local surplus outlet.

I am curious as to what speed and deflection angle these galvo's are rated at.

Could you get a close up of the info panel and the writing on the side of the galvo?

My guess is it's a geared motor. I doubt you would need anything quicker then a motor to open and shut air vents.... but then again it could be a SOS signaler for the front of a high powered light... but again, you could do that with a motor.

But better pictures would help immensely.

These have a torsion bar and spring back to center/zero so they are not motors.
An SOS signaler is something I had not thought about!

I had shrank the picture quite a bit for the post, here is the shot I took of the label
in a better format for you.

Thanks for your help in this.

bobhaha, the galvos on that pdf/page are position detector galvos, Thanks!, I will
hunt around there and compare the size of mine to ones listed.

Variation of G330 open loop. 60' optical angle, 1/4" shaft, about 120-200 Hz response depending on mirror size. We used them to wrap beams around a room, because of the huge scan angle.

If it has 4 wires, tie black and yellow together and drive from red to green.

Do not loosen the set screw at the bottom of the galvo and do not overdrive the rotor into the stops.
