Hello my name is Kyle, and I am a current quantum mechanics student, and musician at Berkeley, and I have recently begun an interest in lasers for the purpose or energy, and have hopes to soon have a collection of my very own. I have a few small 5w lasers that are green, and I have been researching their internal workings. However at the current time I would like to purchase a more powerful laser, so I have ended up in LPF to try to get a sense of the laser pointer community, and to increase my knowledge in what now seems to be a new hobby of mine.

Welcome to LPF, and I think you mean 5mW (532nm) green laser, not 5 Watt.

Thanks for all of the welcomes I have read all of the information above, and now I probably will not buy a wicked laser, and yes I mean a 5 mw laser not 5w thanks for the correction.
