Looking for some advice or ideas

A few days a week I break out four bricks 50 feet of string and I mark out a square in spray paint for asphalt and pavement repair around a pothole typical sizes 10 feet by 10 feet

Is there a laser that would be battery powered that I could attach to some kind of rig? Turn it on spray paint my lines and move on to the next patch.

I am currently building something that will utilize two retractable dog leashes but I would love to use lasers

From the quick reading that I have done it sounds like lasers and sunlight do not play well together, my question is there a setup that could safely do this? It appears the power is possible but the fear of eye damage is a main concern

I thank you smart people for pointing me in the right direction and probably saving me some money. I already tried to buy a tile laser layout it looks great indoors but take it outside and the lines are invisible.

Ideally I would have 2 lasers that projected a 90 degree angle each I make the square spray paint the sides and move on

You could try laser enhancement goggles? I think they have a few at the local home depot, I'm kind of a newb with the actual "practical uses" of lasers, so take my advice with a grain of salt, good luck!

you could also try a 10mw greenie, which is probably brighter than a 1mw red. As long as you don't stick your face in the beam, I believe you'll be alright.

Yes there is some thing you could use. They make lasers that shoot lines out and I do believe that there are a few that do right angles meaning dual lines. Most of these are in the red range of the spectrum though I think there may be a green on out there! the cheap ones wont last long I suggest you get one of the good ones but they are 400-1000$ you may be able to get one of the really good builders on here to make you some thing that may work dont know unless you ask

That's interesting Pikablu. Never heard of laser enhancement goggles. I'll have to check those out the next time I am there out of curiosity.

AixiZ Laser (.com) sells a lens that turns a 'dot' into a line-w/ 2 of these you could make a 90 angle --but use short duty and long rest cycles as these do not have good heat sinks... I would say no more than 90 seconds on and double that as a rest-however if it is very hot outside go with shorter duty and longer rest cycles as the laser cannot become any cooler than the ambient temp.--AFAIK
