good dmm for under 100$?

Wow. $100 is a huge budget for a DMM. You could get a real pro one for that. I'd go for a Fluke one, if you can't get them at radio shack then i don't know (I'm in Australia) but Fluke make some top meters.

Fluke is the best

Try a 115 model. It will be a little more than $100 new but if you can find it elsewhere its good :)

The radio Shack has a decent DMM for 25$. I have a fluke and this RS one and tho the RS is slower to respond, i use both and they are accurate. Can't beat a fluke but if you dont have a multi purpose scope, you will want a couple meters anyway, the RS @25$ is dang good at millivolt and milliamp readings, just give it a couple seconds to level out.

I use my harbor freight that seems to work accurately and it was only $4

I had that same one for my first meter. It is ok-ish, but only for low voltages. I tried checking for 480VAC at work with it and it fried. It is supposed to be able to handle it, but wasn't :)
