Good deal on small HeNe PSU

The only ones of these little 6-inchers I have on hand right now, do not produce a beam.

The plasma is good, so they are great for Steam Punk stuff and cool looking accent lamps, but no laser beam

I've got a couple of them in my FS thread for $20 (plus shipping) each , with a PSU

Anyone have any idea of what power or WL my Hene is.?

Most probably 632.8nm, but it -could- be a greenie. I've never seen yellows or oranges that short.

I Might take you up on that if i buy the PSU from the Original post. But it dont think i will. You never know. I get hooked quick on different kind of lasers.

Get one while they last, those "homeless" tubes are a REAL gem! The Psu for them is cheap and easy to find, you just have to get the ballast value right: JDSU High Voltage Helium Neon HeNe Laser Power Supply 1250V DC 4.0mA HV 10KV | eBay I know it says 4.5 to 5.5mA on Sam's page but I've run one of his $10 homeless tubes on this exact psu for dozens of hours.



The one I linked above will run most tubes under 8" in length.

I bought a kit from Sam (the small tube in my avatar) about this time last year that came with a tube and PSU for a little less than what that PSU and one of the homeless tubes would cost. I also scored a a 5mw red tube mounted in a head with an AC power supply for $45 last fall so I really don't need another. Actually that's not true. You cal always use another gas laser. I just had an idea for a project but if I do it I'll just buy another kit from Sam so I know I have a matching supply for the tube. What I could use is something to drive my bare GrHeNe tube so I can fire both it and my green head at the same time. Unfortunately those PSUs are rarely cheap.

Don't forget the tube will stay charged for long time after the power is removed. It will bite you...
