GITD Green Pocket Laser
A Collaborative Effort

A few months ago, around the end of March, I had the idea of getting a custom laser in the making while playing around with fasttech modules. I took a couple and experimented with them like rats to see what will give the highest power without dialing the pot too far, and it looks like I hit the jackpot. I took one and started designing a host around it.

Here's what I came up with:

With having great experienced with Jeff (FlaminPyro) in the past with a focus ring from a previous build, I sent this to him and asked him if he'd be willing to fabricate this part for me. He accepted and at a great price may I add, he was very kind and great to work with through the whole thing. Originally I was just going to have him create the host body, but then we started having idea for the button, module, end cap etc.

Here's just some of the work Jeff put in the main body & module to have everything fit:

Here was the final product before Jeff installed the module:

Somewhere in the mix of the host order, I had been in contact with two others, Fiddy and BowtieGuy. These two were also very friendly and great to work with, I ended up ordering a batch of O-rings from Fiddy and a focus ring from BowtieGuy (Also named Jeff :p). Here are the O-rings I had ordered from Fiddy, I used two of the smaller green ones on the finished laser:

The focus ring from Jeff used GITD O-rings as well, on the surface of the extrusions(?) on the focus ring. This ended up looking great and gave the laser a fancy looking tip! Here's the piece on it's own:

Finished laser

The laser module inside runs at 532nm and was meter'd by FlaminPyro at a peak of 159mW, and average of 74mW, giving off a final reading of ~133mW:

Will try to post a bit more beam shots later!

Big thanks to:

-Jeff (FlaminPyro) for the module upgrades & heatsinking, machine work on the host body, button, tailcap.
-Jeff (BowtieGuy) for the GITD embedded focus ring, shines like a beauty! Some inspiration for this laser came from BowtieGuy's thread, "Green Eclipse": http://laserpointerforums.com/f45/green-eclipse-just-fun-85988.html
-Mitch (Fiddy) for the GITD O-rings on the front of the laser as well as the other GITD strips and O-rings I ordered, great work put into those.

Thanks again to the 3 guys that made the final construction of this laser possible, through 120 total PMs it was a fun process

Lookin good EP!
Glad to see it all come together so nicely in the finished project; all that GITD works well with that host and focus ring!

Thanks for the acknowledgement and link!

Thanks lazerman, my reaction exactly when this guy was finished ;)

@BowtieGuy, a good chunk of the inspiration for this guy was from your build, especially the GITD aspect. Glad you liked the outcome :yh:

Can I ask where you got the glow in the dark bands at? :D I'd like to have some for myself :)

@Lildutchboy, I got them from member Fiddy. Not sure if he's still selling them, I think I might of caught him on the way out, but I'd say it's still worth a shot to PM him or something.

Also just took a nice shot of the laser, I'll put it in the OP :D:

I'm having an issue with my GITD powder mixed with epoxy. I wish I had never done it. The oils from my hands are being absorbed by the 2 part epoxy and discoloring it almost a pinkish color.

Your host looks amazing. Thank You for sharing it!

Thanks Trend :yh: Are you sure it's from your hand? I've never actually heard about anything like that before. Have you tried creating the mixture without touching any of the materials (epoxy/powder)?
