Genesis Project: my RGB White Rainbow - Proof of Concept build.

Mr Alaskan I'll have to check that out when I get the unit back on the test bench.
Not sure if it's correct or not, as you know I have two of these RGB micro's so I can check both.

I asked on their contact form, waiting. The reason I question is non of my SM diodes in a pointer had beams that wide, that and I've seen listing errors on their web site before I had to bring to their attention. They build first class stuff, but the guy who puts up their web info didn't know lasers well enough, was confusing MM and SM powers in the past.

Thank you so much CD, I will post as much details as possible for everyone.
Also thank you for your wonderful masterpiece of the Zacop build !!

And of course your great sense of humour in the posts you make.
You put a smile on my face everytime.

Thanx RB.....Especially regarding...my " sense of humor " !!!!!!

Humor is a challenging endeavor !!! Especially when one does not want to offend...just point out the absurd.....But...in today's world....there are alot of absurd things to beam target !!!

:whistle: Rest assured.....I will continue down the path of sometimes
infantile humor!! This site needs more humor...for that adds a dimension of surprise !!

Someone rep that man, look how close he is to 10k, i'm out of reps today already. CDBEAM, I love your sense of humour, I should be more like you in these forums.

Done. I was surprised as I rep him all the time. :D

muahhhh ha ha ha.... Now he's forever a 10K+'er. Arctic, if you see this, what is the approximate diameter of any of your three R,G or B outputs on that wonderful pointer you have? If all three of them are on, then what diameter beam?

Thank you for measuring, I thought you could throw some rough numbers at me, but you went to the trouble of measuring! Thank you, appears my beam expander with a maximum 2.5 mm input can't be used, the long side appears to be closer to 5 mm. Appears about 2.5 x 5.0 mm to me, average.

Yeah it's not the tightest beam, understandably, but in real life just shooting this thing up to the sky or around a lake (like Arctic does) looks awesome and great for photo compositions.
And to be able to dial up any 'colour' is pretty cool, which was my main objective for this.

It's a shame though it won't do for what you want Chris but still it's a nice unit.

BTW back then when I had it on the test bench it actually lit a match at around 45cm which was a bit of a surprise I suppose.

You must have lit that match with all three wavelengths going at the same time, I imagine. I thought my beams were much smaller using single mode diodes, but they weren't dichro'd together, maybe something in the design due to that is why, but I can't imagine what. I could have swore my single mode laser pointer outputs were really small beam diameters.

Well, no big loss, I bought a surplus 6X Melles Griot HEBBAR (although doesn't need to be high energy for these SM diodes) beam expander thinking I could use it with these diodes combined straight out of the Oplasers module and then when seeing these measurements decided not, but my first impression was wrong, I can probably find a way to down telescope them into the expander a bit and hopefully adjust back to full collimation. Although a lot of trouble! Probably ought to use that expander for a 532 nm DPSS like the Optotronics RPL-$$ :) or some other DPSS with a small diameter beam output.
