GB oemlasersystems goggles (CLOSED)

Re: GB oemlasersystems goggles

This is probably not the answer you need/want, but if you don't think you actually need 808nm coverage--and maybe you won't if your greens are sufficiently filtered--you can just get some ARGs to protect against 532nm. The goggles that cover both are all in that $150+ range.

Unless you're going to be opening up DPSS lasers to align them and stuff, you could probably just buy some IR filters and stick them on whatever DPSS lasers you happen to think that leak too much IR. The latter may have been the better choice in my case, as I later found out.

Bionic hit the nail on the head with this one...

Reason I'm getting DBD is because of the 20W 808nm I have... no power supply for it... yet, but I am GOING to, and will eventually delve into building my own DPSS as well. ARG is fantastic set for a super price ($60 in this GB) and great VLT to boot.

I had thought about that route. I've got some 808nm c-mounts, crystals and optics for a 473 though.

Actually I considered this. I already have a pair of ARG goggles that I use rather frequently.

Thing is, I do want to play with aligning in the future, so some 808nm coverage is a must, but not a priority... maybe half a year down the road.

The other area where I am lacking right now is with ~600-700nm. Need to do some digging through their site to find something cheaper for that range.

Thanks for the suggestions guys:beer:

Best thing I've seen for that range is the RB2 - $119 regular price
35% VLT Teal
OD 6+ @ 190-400nm
OD 3+ @ 615-720nm
OD 4+ @ 651-670nm
OD 5+ @ 671-715nm
OD 6+ @ 680-710nm
OD 7+ @ 690-700nm

Re: GB oemlasersystems goggles

InfinitusEquitas: If you're interested, I've got a second pair of ML7s (OD2.5+ @532nm, OD3.7+ @808nm, OD4+ @ 810nm+, no coverage at 445nm or 473nm however).

If you buy me some ARGs I'd be willing to send you a pair of my ML7s. They're used, but only about 1 minute, have no scratches, all original documentation, and cleaning cloth; I don't have the original bag they came inside. They cost $157 new, which would be twice the price of an ARG; however, I've so very rarely used that second pair that a pair of ARGs would be more useful to me than a pair of goggles just sitting around.

They're in style 35 (wrap around). That may not work for you.

The offer extends to anyone else here too if InfinitusEquitas doesn't go for it.

Re: GB oemlasersystems goggles

Bionic-Badger I would LOVE to take you up on the offer, and I was looking at ML7's but the style wouldn't work for me:( I have a rather large head, and with my glasses... well I basically need either 700 or 900 style:p

This is an awesome offer though. Wish I could take you up on it.

Re: GB oemlasersystems goggles

I had to back out one pair and just went with the RB2's due to financial stress. I'm still in for payment next week as planned, and have advised dethlore about my decision.

I based this on the numbers who have paid, those left to pay (excluding my 2), and wether I'd like to survive on noodles for a fortnight. So I choose to have healthy dinners and buy the cheaper pair (ARG) directly when I get back on my financial feet. Since I wont be buying any blue green lasers (nor any reds) until I get them, and dont posess any lasers in those wavelengths atm, my eyesight will be safe :D

Yes I miss out on the 25% on the ARGS, but simply can't afford both pairs. Unlike laser pointers, you cant plug me into the wall to recharge. ;)

Put simply, I have too many books open at once. I need to close a couple before buying more stuff.

TL : DR:
I'm still in and still on time next week. The GB wont be affected. :)

Crap. I've been following this thread since it started and somehow forgot about it. Is it too late to get in on it? I already have a pair of AL3s OEM's that cover my blues and greens (except for my GrHeNe it goes right through -- all 3mw of it) but I'd like to get something to cover my reds. Since I also plan on adding an IR to my collection this year I've narrowed it down to the ML2 and DI4. Both have at least OD3 which is more than enough to cover a 1+W build. From what I can tell the big differences are the ML2s trade some OS for VLT and the DI4s have high 633nm protection for red HeNe. Unless I'm missing something for my needs the ML2s should be fine correct?

LtKernelPanic:

No, I dont think so, I believe Dethlore will be waiting until 25 have paid, then taking no more orders, giving a final deadline to pay and then ordering the glasses for those that have paid. Only 20 have paid so far.

Re: GB oemlasersystems goggles

Cool. That's kinda what I was thinking since I didn't see anything saying it was closed. I'm going to wait until after work tomorrow and then decide on which ones to get. Unless someone chimes in I think I'll go with the ML2. I can't remember which style I got last time so I need to look that up too.

You're still good to order. I have one coming in on the 30th, which is going to be the final deadline.

It looks like the DI4 has the best coverage... but the VLT is pretty low, but only 5% less than the ML2s.

Re: GB oemlasersystems goggles

The builder I was going to have make me a host seems to have more important clients to deal with. I will not be buying any glasses, I'm sorry. I'm glad you guys at least got a donation from me, but i'm done. Thanks for your time.
