edit - I think EF was close enough. It's actually the insides of a G-120 scanner from GSI Lumonics (General Scanning). This was the work horse of the laser projector for many years before the Cambridge 6800's and the Chinese knock offs. With the right amp, these will do 30Kpps. The common mode of failure was with the torsion bar. Unlike scanners today, when you remove power from the G-120 it snaps back to center due to the torsion bar. Donation sent!

Neato! Never seen the inside of one of those, thanks for sharing. I wonder what the insides of the newer galvos look like.
 
I can try to dig something up over the next few days, been uber-busy with work lately so finding time even for minor hobby-related stuff has beem a challenge.
 
I have not put anything here for long time now, I hope do not mind if I put this little thing, which I think is easy to find.
