an electricaly heated stand for pet birds to perch on in places that suck because the winters get so damned cold, even though lpstealth is probably correct :)
 
It looks like a futuristic sound system, something like the designs of Bang & Olufsen :thinking:

And maybe the bars are purely aesthetic, or a futuristic antenna, or also maybe to control some function of the system :thinking:
 
..... Alien Style clock/radio/mp3 player ? ..... :p :D

Does the bars slides ? ..... they recall me linear potentiometers "fashion style", but it's just an impression :p
